An update on my week, I attended my ms support group tonight for first time and actually had a great time. I was thrilled that there was one in our tiny town and they are all ages and very open and sharing, a small group, but will be helpful as I don't have many that I can be with who truly understand what I go thru on a daily basis.
Kyle: so glad you are in your new apartment! Way to go...........
OK, s it's actually Tuesday now, but I've finally moved into my new apartment! I've even managed to get most of the boxes unpacked!
Kyle
Every month? Why so often? Is your battery close to gone?
Mine is scheduled every three months. In March and September I do a remote check at home, transmitting from pacer to the device clinic via my landline phone. In June and December the EP checks it in his office.
On the up side..... I guess it's good that nothing changes? I sure would be calling them in a jiffy if it wasn't working!
Oh I so agree with you that these pacemaker folks just like to see us, and send us another bill I have to go every month and I so tire of it because I ask for the results and sometimes the print outs and nothing changes. I've cancelled this months because it conflicts with my Tysabri infusion time and I know they will do the "long version" next month, as its my last one here before I leave for the summer.......egads, its almost time for that.............time is flying)
Work mostly for me, I can relate to what you are experiencing a bit Essy, started new workouts myself, and it's deterring at first when you can't do what they can, but slow and steady seems to be getting me there. Hope it does you too. Oh, and a fair amount of telling myself to buck up, lol
Other than that - I'm off friday and going to spend some quality time w/fam and just enjoy the day off. We too are bracing for the storm tomorrow, and I sure hope it has at it and gets this crap out of it's system. I've got serious spring fever!!! So sick of winter!
Wishing you all a good week :)
I had a pacemaker check today too! Really, I think people must just like communicating with these things. No doubt it's fine. A rep was at the surgery center to do pre-op and post-op checks when I had the knee surgery ten days ago.
Thursday I have a follow up appointment with the surgeon and get to hear what he found with my own ears. I hope he brings pictures to share. I don't remember much from our journey that day.
Friday it's the pain management doc. Seems I'm gearing up to make a full round of the specialists over the next few weeks.
it sounds like everyone has quite the week except for me. I believe I have work, a couple meetingsfor Non-MS things, and more work. A non-medical week for me is a nice change.
Last week we had my birthday, and two of my sister's birthdays...odd I know! I am happy to only have my mom's birthday to contend with next week.
I have standardized tests to prep for over the next three weeks. Other than that, this week is slow. Last week was a real killer (parent conferences, birthdays, out of state travel, etc)
Saw my neuro today. Those dang appointments make me so anxious because I know if something gets missed it's another 3-6 months before I can see him again.
Instead he appears to be referring me to a rheumy. He's still convinced I'm dealing with something auto-immune besides MS. Even despite my TM diagnosis a year ago. He thinks my symptoms are too constant to be MS. Does that make sense? He's not totally ruling out that I have something else going on BESIDES a demyelinatiing disease and that MS may show up later, but he thinks my current sx are, like I said, too constant/long-lasting to be MS.
Regardless it looks like at least a 4 month wait to see a rheumy -- all this while I'm in constant pain, can't flex the fingers on my left hand, and frequently can't even hold a pencil. Love our health care system!
We had a single lovely day of sunshine here in the Pacific Northwest, thank the Lord! The sun makes everything seem that much more doable, know what. I mean? :)
But it's a bird! That's still a aminal, ain't it? ;-)
Seriously, Alex, nice job, as always.
One of the newer church regulars wants to meet. Pretty sure he wants to tell me how a church ought to be run. We'll deal with it.
Work, calls to & from insurance company's mail-order pharmacy & PCP's office, work, work on the house, try to squeeze in time to visit sick & shut-ins, continue house & church repairs/remodeling, work...
Back to work for another week of working too many hours and getting too little sleep. Probably not the best for an MSer. Needless to say I am pretty grouchy most of the time these days. I'm just hoping there is a light at the end of the tunnel soon.
Met with the surgeon about my port. It does not have to be replaced yeah! She is sending me to PT and having a special bra made for the port. There is a bunch of scar tissue. They are working on building me up from chemo. What a great idea. To bad Cancer Doctors do not think of such things. I am glad someone is.
Oh and check out my latest painting I posted. A departure from animals.
Alex
yes ess, that groundhog was fibbing! I also think we need two calendars, one for the north and one for the south; spring does arrive differently at both!
We had our local MS walk yesterday. Luckily it was held in a large mall so we were all nice and warm and out of the snow! I am proud to say my small team raised $1200!
Not much going on this week except the usual PT session and a visit to my podiatist.
I am so happy to report that I have been on Gilenya for 3 months now and I have really been feeling so much better :) My walking and strength are improving and my hands are no longer numb and tingling. I sure hope that I'm not jinxing anything, but after being in a downward spiral for over a year it sure feels great to finally be on the upswing!!!
Have a great week and stay well friends :)

I could used some bucking up. Went to a Pilates class this morning and couldn't do most of it, couldn't do anything well. They were using the big excercise balls, sort of balancing on them and doing lifts from there. Not possible for me, given my own balance, and I was afraid I'd fall on my face.
Other than that, have a long list of chores for the week, nothing exciting. I have to get various things done soon because we're expecting a rather big snowstorm for Wednesday, and around here, that means the sky is falling, Chicken Little!
Oh well, it's March, so spring can't be so far away. But that dumb groundhog was lying!
