It's about my husband

Hi There;

My husband was "loosely" diagnosed with MS by ruling everything else out.  He has suffered from Severe Chronic Fatigue, Peripheral numbness and tingling,  Dizziness, Poor balance etc for a few years now.  He is also diagnosed with Adult onset ADHD, Anxierty, Bipolar Disorder, Post traumatic stress disorder, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, OSA, Diastolic hear failure and is becoming agoraphobic.

He went from being a very active person (worked a fulltime job, had a DJ business, worked out daily as well as being out and about constantly) to barely being able to function for a few hours daily without being totally wiped out.

At his appt with the neurologist he took something resembling a large knitting needle and did something to my husbands foot to which he had no reaction whatsoever.

The MRI of his brain was normal but we where told that doesn't mean that MS is not present.
Is it possible for MS to present when the MRI of the brain is normal??

Also he has developed an unexplained rash on the front of both of his lower legs; can this be neuroligical?

Thanks
ChelB

Hi ChelB,
Your husband is fortunate to have you looking out for him - this is a tough battle to wage on our own.

The list of mimics is here - these are the neurological ones .......

The rash is definitely not MS - so you need to check with the doctor about its cause.

Good luck with getting answers for your husband and you!

wishing you both well,
Lulu

Hi there... I suggest that you check out our "Health Pages" .. it's the link on the top right side of this page...there is soooo much information there and I'm sure it will give you some ideas and answers to questions..

there are so many mimics... it's hard to list here.  and your husband is only feeling what alot of us have felt here, being a hypochondriac... we all know our bodies and if something isn't right.... you know it..

take care and hang in there

He is scheduled for an MRI of his spine this week, called the Neurologist about the rash but you say a Rheumotologist? I'm really kinda new at this can you tell me what the mimics are?  My husband says he feels like a hypochondriac and we are going a little crazy with all of this.

Hi there...sorry to hear all the things going on for you and your husband... it is possible to have MS with a normal MRI of the brain...has he had a C spine MRI..or full spine MRI..sometimes it shows up in the spine.

the rash, might be something a Rheumotologist could help with...has he seen one and had bloodtests done too rule out all the other MS mimics??

there is alot too finding out what Dx could be...you probably know all this.. but with a rash I would talk to your/his Dr...

take care and let us know how things are going
