Jury Duty - Why is it so hard to get a doc. note?

I'm a bit frustrated. I don't have an MS dx, but all of my symptoms scream MS, and I don't know about those non-specific white matter lesions on my brain. Nobody seems to think they are anything, so my MRIs are "normal".
Anyway, since the heat has made it's appearance I am barely functional for a good part of the day. The fatigue has been horrible, and the weakness - ugh! I call my primary, she is aware of all the symptoms I have been experiencing for the past 2 years and she just doesn't think she can write a note excusing me from jury duty - I'm like huh? She knows I'm not driving right now and the place I need to go is 40 miles away. Even if I make it there, I will be crashed out in the chair from horrible fatigue and holding my chest/arm from the pain I will have d/t all the driving. Heart will be racing, because when I'm fatigued this is when the palpitations make their lovely appearance. And the brain fog, what kind of rational decision could I possibly make when I'm in a fog, because by the time I get there I certainly will be. Arrgh!

Mike,
I agree completely. When I was thinking about this today, I came to the realization that if the doc isn't willing to write a simple note for me, then she must not take me too seriously. As you have said, she is not on my side, and that is exactly what I need.
Ok, she is the 4th primary I have seen in 2 years, I'm getting a bit discouraged now. Thankfully, my Neuro. seems pretty good. He talks to me, not down to me and really takes his time, never rushes you out of his office like some do. I don't mind the hour wait in his office, because I know he will also give me an hour of his time.

I'd be shopping for another doctor either way.

My doctor routinely fills out all the ridiculous forms my insurance company requires and writes notes and letters any time I ask him to......and if the note or form is not being paid for by someone other than me, he waives the fees.

I know that if I asked him to write a note saying I'm unable to do jury duty, he'd have it done by the end of the day. HE'S ON MY SIDE!

You need a doctor who is on your side.

My oppinion

Mike

That is so ridiculous, it's not like they're signing their life away or something. It's not like they don't already have documentation of my health condition - duh - lol.
Oh well, if I can't get a note, hubby said he would be willing to take my place. Don't know if they'll go for that though. He would need to take a day off from work, load the kids in the car and drive me down I guess. Don't know what he'll do with the kids all day while I'm sitting inthere trying to keep my head up and going, huh, what am I here for again? - lol.

>>Why is it so hard to get a doc. note?

something changed over the years, as i noticed that too. i took it kinda personal the first few times. but it seems a common thing these days. even harder at the VA.

like no one wants to put their name on any paper these days.

Thank you. I have put a call in to my Neuro. I had called my primary 1st because her office is close to me and I just didn't feel the need to bother my neuro with this. I also figured something like this would be pretty routine, I guess not in her office. I am hoping that he will provide a note. One more thing to be stressed over. Boy, between the stress and the heat I can't figure out if I'm coming or going - lol!

I would get another physician. There seems to be a "missing piece".

Such notes are issued routinely by most physicians.
