MRI/MS

My MRI report stated that I have several foci of hyper intensity in the corona radiata in both hemispheres. I have not been diagnosed with MS but saw neuro today. I am to undergo a spinal tap and an EMG. All symptoms seem to point to MS. The Doctor's statement is that he doesn't think I have MS, but he wants to rule it out. Has anyone had a similar MRI report and been diagnosed with MS?

Hi I agree with Laura and Kyle. If you are a bit scared and overwhelmed I can identify with that. When they were trying to figure out what was going on with me they came up with many scenarios. I was in shock and did not know what to even ask. It is hard to be at the beginning of the process. Not knowing what is going on is hard.

Welcome to our little group.

As Laura said MS is different for all of us. No two people have the exact same test results or symptom sets. If you are looking to learn more about MS and how it's diagnosed you might start here. It's the Natl. MS Society page on "About MS"

http://www.nationalmssociety.org/about-multiple-sclerosis/index.aspx

Also as us. We're pretty friendly and there is no such thing as a dumb question :-)

Hi and welcome.  Unfortunately there is no single pattern that fits MS.  It is a crazy disease how the symptoms - both clinical exam and tests (MRI and LP) - are consistently different for us all.  This is a good time for you to learn a bit more about MS - that way you can have these discussions with the doctors.  But I would wait and see what else these test results show.

You mention symptoms - those fit into the bigger picture as well.  You're welcome to share those here to fill in more details about your story.

I hope you ask us all the questions you want - knowledge is so important for patients as they try to figure out what is wrong.  ~Laura
