Indeed, what a fun thread. Thanks again, Lu. Alex, I love "Love, honor, and negotiate." Might try to work that one into a ceremony one of these days.
Our fridge was replaced recently with the one I brought from my previous home. It's much newer, although we discovered that the freezer might be a shade smaller. It's a side-by-side, and those tend not to make the best use of freezer space. Love the ice dispenser in the door, though. Wish someone would crawl under the house & hook up the water line.
Ours has mostly posed pix of people, such as the family portrait of some good friends, another of a church official and his family, senior pic of one of the next-door incorrigibles (who's now in his 2nd year of college).
We also have a couple of the little guy in Haiti whom Nancy has sponsored for several years. Since the quake, we've received a couple of letters, but they were dated before the quake. We've been told that the area in which he lives had no damage, but that their postal system isn't yet what it ought to be. Hopefully we'll hear something from him soon.
There are two postcards from Tim's school, each of which commends him for an act of kindness.
I think that's it, except there are carryout menus from at least two of the four little eateries here in town. I'm sure we have both pizza places (Well, I'm sure we DID, at least!), and we might have one from the ice cream shop that seems to be morphing into as much a lunch counter. The other place, the Camouflage Cafe, isn't a takeout kind of place. One must sit down and appreciate the atmosphere.
Erin, that is some inventory. I would hate to publicly announce what all I have on mine - the side is quite cluttered with a bit of everything.
This continues to be fun to read.
Magnets -
"My garden kicks @ss"
"Wild women rock"
"Troublemakers Rock"
Various Metro stops in Paris (Odeon, St. Michel, Clingancourt, St. Germain)
About 150 French words to make poetry.
Pictures of kids and grandkids.
A magnet hand painted by a patient of mine that holds up the week's menu (lets DH know what to stay the hell out of, reminds me of what I'm doing, and saves $$$).
Ok I was doing paperwork in the kitchen last night and this thread was in my head ( I ryme, lol). A bit of OCD I guess, but I counted everything on the fridge and here is what I really have.
41 Pictures in Magnets
14 Vacation Magnets
1 Daily Prayer
4 Inspirational Magnets
1 Magnet that says - I cleaned my house last week, sorry you missed it
1 Dry erase board right smack in the middle
The top of my fridge has nothing but dust because I have to climb to get there and that is a big no no.
JJ - I feel a bit sad that you are magnet free - but I would LOVE a nice new fridge so we can trade my old whit one magnets included :)
Quix I know that you have more than the Act Silly magnet!
Shell I will send you all the magnets you want :)
Hugs,
Erin :)
Over the years my fridges have always contained a multitude of pictures, photos or kids paintings, lots of notes for school, take away menu's, and lots and lots of magnets, from dots to messages. I've always liked the magnets that are just a 100 random words, i never knew what silly or serious message i'd find on the fridge, great fun.
When i changed my fridge to a silver side by side pair, they dont hold magnets so i gave the 'words' to our daughter, she loves them too, as do her friends but they added another set of naughtier words and sometimes the messages are hillarious.
So my fridge holds nothing but those finger prints, i do miss the magnets when i'm cleaning off another smudge.lol
Cheers......JJ
a magnet that says "Act Silly".
What a fun thread, Lulu! I've tried very hard to keep mine from looking too crazy for the past couple of years, cause I used to have lots of stuff on there, lol.
Right now, I have one that's a pic of me and Andy from when we were in Pigeon Forge last year. We are at a place called Parrot Mountain, and we both have Cockatoos and Macaws on our shoulders and arms - I love birds and it makes me smile every time I see it. Andy is not such a bird person, lol - but he was such a good sport that day!
The other is one that has one of my favorite bible verses - :Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" ... Hebrews 11:1

A pizza coupon & a few magnets. Actually one is a snowman from Christmas, a angle, a cow, dragon, and castle I believe.
By no means are those two magnets the only things on my 'fridge. I have a collection from some California vinyards, including "Forgive me for I have zinned"
"Warning - science experiment in progress. Do not touch the top of this refrigerator"
School pictures of the assorted grandchildren we have adopted along the way - four in Texas right now and the four in town (all AF Families!). No pictures of our two biologicals though - they are not yet school age.
Now I am getting special pictures from the granddaughters to put on the fridge. They always make me smile when I see them.
I had to smile at the SS magnet - mine was on the fridge for a while with no photo in it either - I finally took down all the drug company magnets. I don't need their constant reminder that I have MS. There are enough doctor notes and appt cards to do that !!! :-)
Magnets from our travels - especially ones with the State or Country name on it....
I really thought that stainless steel refrigerator would stay clutter free, but that didn't last. Who was I trying to fool?
I love reading what everyone has - I think the refrigerator doors are a real window on our lives and what is meaningful to us.

Ours is really junky. Lots of coupons and magnets and pieces of paper with numbers on them...
I think the most notable thing is the magnetic poetry. The only poem I can remember is:
"A magical trip and a pineapple ship,
you punched our drunk monkey - I recall her fat hips."
I need more magnets :)
Donations welcome!

I am enjoying reading everyone's answers. Great question, Lu - yet another way to learn a little more about each other.
My fridge is a mess with stuff one it. Growing up I used to hate my mother's messy fridge and now I do the exact same thing!
Just a sampling of what's on mine:
A multitude of magnets:
- a bunch with one word only, like "love" "determination" "strength" that my mom gave me
- one from City of Toronto Public Health dept. saying "B.Y.O.C." tranlated to Bring Your Own Condom, with the "O" looking like a condom, and the AIDS hotline number (this one I have had since university, 20 years ago)
- small wooden ones decorated with Haida (west coast First Nations people) art
- a man pouring a cup of coffee for a woman while saying "I'm an atheist, but I do worship coffee!"
- 4 women looking like they're from the 1950's, saying "Don't tell the guys, but we run this f...ing place!"
- several of black poodles
-several of heavy metal bands (my husband's not mine): Metallica, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, etc.
- several from our travels around North America and Europe that cover the entire right side of the fridge, my favourites are a furry little Viking from Denmark, a lobster trap from Cape Cod, and a crown that says "Hollywood Princess"
also:
- tons of pics of our nephew and our friends' kids school pics and baby pics
- Dora the Explorer Valentines from my friend's 5 and 3 yr old daughters
- lotto tickets
- unused gift certificates
- Canadian Tire money (I'm guessing the non-Canadians probably won't know what this is)
- postcards from Mexico, Miami, France, Italy
- dr, dentist and vet ph. numbers
- a fortune cookie saying: "you will have many friends when you need them" (true!)
I think it's time to tidy up my fridge..........
I too have the usual assortment of clutter, pictures and so on. But my favorite thing is a magnet, a big red circle---
Sometimes you have to
Look reality in the eye
and
DENY IT!!

A dry erase board that has all my appointments on it, last time it was updated was May.
A dog-themed calendar with of course cocker spaniels. Two magnets with our vets numbers on them. One dog food magnet.
My sister and I have 3 cocker spaniels, black, chocolate and buff.
I guess you can tell where our loyalties lie right now :-)

I have a regular fridge with a steel (looking) front that can't hold magnets, so the front is clear. The sides, which do hold magnets, are a mess LOL. Next to the fridge we have a small upright freezer. The upright freezer has the kids school menus, and daily school schedules on it.
The top of both fridge & freezer has anything I want to keep out of the kids reach: all cleaning supplies, all first aid supplies, tylenol & other meds, all art supplies (glue, markers, crayons, etc...anything that will make a mess. It only took me a few years of scrubbing artwork off walls to realize it is better to not let the kids have easy access LOL)
The sides of the regular fridge have a variety of magnets (we buy a magnet from anyplace we visit on vacation). Lots of papers from the kids school (pictures they drew, work they did a good job on, etc). I have the dry erase magnet board from Shared Solutions with my shot schedule.
I have one other dry erase magnet board that I wrote one of my favorite quotes on:
"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There's no use being a damn fool about it." ~W.C. Fields
~Jess
My fridge is filled with pictures my kids make, and there awards, they love to put there accomplishments up for all to see. Iove seeing there stuff everytime I go to the fridge.
:)

It is not what happens in life it what you do about it
True contentment comes from playing the hand you are dealt
Love Honor and negotiate
An email from Wendy Booker the woman with MS who climbs mountains
A news paper article about a friend of mine who was killed instantly doing a good deed. This reminds me to continue doing good deeds in her honor and live every moment to the fullest. She was truly one of the most wonderful people ever.
A picture of Suffragettes to remind me how important civic duty is
My white board where I write all my activities and notes since my memory is shot.
Alex
My fridge is white and has some of my favourite photos on it, held on by magnets.
My favoiutie two magnest say
"My mind not only wonders, it sometimes leaves completely"
"Dull women have immaculate houses"
No wish to offend those wonderful women who I am in awe of if their house is tidy...I wish mine"
Love Sarah xxx :)
Wow...now that you ask...I can't believe how much stuff we have on our fridge!
I just looked, and the thing that sticks out is a photo of my daughter kissing her 1 year old son (our grandson) on his chubby cheek, and he's looking into the camera...I feel like he's looking right at me....makes my heart swell...wish I could hug him every day~!
Oh...and I see there's a coupon for A&W..
yabadabadoo Mike.
My fridge has two photos of my granddaughter on it. My hairdressers' card. My MS Nurse's phone number. Some medical appointment stuff. And a card from the local mall whihc I got yesterday, which in itself is another story.......but I'll tell itbriefly here because it doesn't warrant its own thread.
I was well enough yesterday to overdo things (paying for it in a major way today)
I managed to go to the supermarket AND then walk through the mall to one of my favourite shops to pick up a gorgeous top I'd had my eye on but not been able to afford until yesterday when it was marked down 60%.
ANYWAY, I did all this holding onto a shopping trolley. On the way back to the car I saw the concierge people, and stopped and asked if they have complimentary wheelchairs and /or scooters for crazy people like me. Yes they do. I said, well there's a problem, the conciege desk is several hundred metres from the entrance, so if I am having trouble walking, what can I do? And they were so nice and said, phone from home and order one, and when you get to the carpark phone on your mobile and we'll meet you at your car!!!
WOW. Amazing what you can get when you ask!
Oh, back to the fridge........ahem ......a card with the phone number of above-mentioned mall for the purpose of ringing and booking mobility aides:P ........a paint stain on the edge from my paint stained finger whihc I didn't notice until it was too late....
The first couple of years the 'frig stayed clear because I thought it wouldn't hold a magnet. Once I figured out it would......
dog school certificates
gym class schedules
a few pictures
granddaughter notes
magnitized advertising calendar
a few misc items that vary with the day
all to COVER UP the ever present fingerprintsand water stains that appear on the black surface.
Mary
How about a magnet that says, "Chocolate is the answer...now, what is the question?"
Besides the obligatory pictures of 3 kids through the years and a calendar so I have SOME idea what day it is, I have several magnets dealing with the fact that I am NOT a morning person (just ask Michelle;-)), such as "Rise and Whine", I don't do mornings', etc.
My absolute favorite things other than the kid pics is a bumper sticker (not stuck to adjust account for the ebb and flow of fridge stuff) is I'M THE MOMMY, THAT'S WHY!
I've had that bumper sticker at least 10 years or more and have pointed to it an untold number of times.
Well I bought some magnetic clips a few years ago so that I could put some stuff on my fridge like notes and stuff. But I always forget that they are there. They do look kind of lonely just sitting there. :)
But like Paula the top of my fridge is overflowing with junk.
