LP and VP test

Well, i talked to m  Dr's nurse and she said that my LP test showed inflamation...and damn, i just talked to her on the phone and as soon as I hung up i forgot what she said about the VEP test....but there was something.  Both tests showed something that will help with the diagnosis.  I see the Dr in a week so i will know more.  I couldnt more out of the nurse of course, not that i didnt try.

Anyone have an idea what this means?

hgs, meg

Some are, some aren't.  My worst problem is severe dizziness that has become nearly constant.  The visual stuff is on one side, recently I've been getting peculiar sensations in various places (hot, warm, chills, buzzing in strange places), and now twitches, mostly on the left, but some on the right.  I need a break too; that's why I'm pushing hard to get somewhere that someone will take the time and trouble to identify just what in the world is going on with my body.  I cannot afford to keep missing work even half as much as I've been, and the 1st neurologist to whom I was sent just can't seem to build up any sense that I might care about getting through this process as quickly as possible.  I'd love to be able to say he was working hard for a dx, but I don't see him working hard at anything.

Are your symptoms bilateral?  My neuro is sending me for the brainstem auditory ep because of my bilateal numbness and weakness in my arms and legs.  I am also going for a 2 spinal eps. He is working hard for a dx, I appreciate that but I'm tired of all the tests.  Good luck. Need a break.  Alli

My-soon-to-be-ex neuro gave me a BAEP, not a VEP, and I'm still wondering why, I suppose.  Somewhere I read that the VEP is more indicative in MS; whether that's accurate or not, who knows?  I've not cross-checked everything I've learned with other sources, nor noted where I found it.  Brain fog, and I'm not even angry.

And meg, about relying on one's own memory...  Never mind; I can't remember what I was going to say.

In layman's terms the Visual Evoked Potential (VEP)  measures the amount of time it takes for visual stimulus to go from outside the brain to the appropriate part of the brain.   If the test showed there was a delay in the time it took to travel across the nerve it would indicate nerve damage.

That may not make sense.  I am in a brain fog.  Anytime I get angry my brain shuts down.

I haven't had an LP so not much help there.  All I know is some ppl with MS have o-bands.
