Letter from neuro today....

as some of you know I am be switched from betaseron to Tysibri due to 3 attacks and 5 new lesions in 6 months.
I feel really good about this decision..... today I recieved a letter from me neuro, it stated:
about a half an hour after you left my office last week after our discussion on switching your treatment to tysibri, I recieved a letter from the Tysibri people leting me know there is now a new report showing a risk of liver damage due to this treament.
we will have to monitor your liver  and most likely closer then we did with the Betaseron.
I dont see a problem with the new treatment but I have to make you aware of this new information.
If you would like to discuss this further please set up an appt to some and see me....

being that the interferons arent working for me i dont feel as if i have a whole lot of choice here.
I also feel like as long as they monitor my liver and contiue bllod work they should catch anything that dosnt look right..
what do you guys think????????

According to my neurologist Tysabri is a treatment of last resort.  He feels the risks are more than I should take at this time.

But, your case and your position in making this decision is much close to the position of last resort than mine.  I am afraide of giving you advice on this.  It is not an easy decision to make.

Of course this has to be a decision that you make for yourself that you are comfortable with.  Have you tried Copaxone, since that is not an Interferon.  You don't have to have follow up blood work and there are not the risks with Copaxone as there are with the Tysbari (sp?)

Let us know what you decide.
