L'hermitte's

Hi,

On Christmas Day my MS gave me a present in the form of my first noticing l'hermitte's (or something that I've called L'H - mild electric shock running down my right arm making it weaker whenever I bend my neck forward and to the left).

I've got a lesion in the right lateral column between C4 and C5 and was wondering whether this could be causing it, or whether it has to be dorsal column involvement (I googled the possible causes of l'h))?

Either way, do I need to tell my neurologist things like this? It doesn't really affect me at all, as the movement required to get the shock is not a movement I often make when carrying something which I'd prob drop. In terms of other symptoms then the vibrating in my left leg has increased in intensity, and the colour is again looking even more washed out through my left eye than it was before, but again, neither really makes a difference to my daily life.

Thanks!

Jep

Thanks for your help - I've give the neuro's office a ring tomorrow.

Kelly: I had ON last February in my left eye, and the brightness of vision didn't return 100%, but it seems to be getting worse again now. No-one's suggested IV sol before, but I've only been diagnosed since Sept. I should be starting on Avonex at the end of Jan.

Red: Thanks for reminding me about the story, I'd planned to be all organised and use that to keep a track of my symptoms, but errr... I'll update this week...

I agree you should call your doctor it is better if they know everything that is going on so they can put it in the charts. I have L'Hermittes and I take lyrica.

i think you should mention it, I have L'Hermittes and it became almost unbearable - controlled now with Gabapentin

I think you should call it in.  It's important that the doctor knows how you are doing.

I took some time to read your story, have you started on DMD's yet?

Hi Jep,  :-)

I'm not for sure exactly where the right lateral column is in the spine. But I know that a lesion in your c-spine can definitely cause l'hermitte's.  I have a lesion between C4-C6 and I get what feels like electrical mis-fires on the back of my calves.
And I think you should definitely tell your neuro of your new symptoms and let your neuro decide if they are important or not. At least they will have the information.

Did they say that you have optic neuritis?
Have they ever suggested you taking the IV solumedrol for a few days?
And I don't remember, have you started Copaxone?
