LightHeaded Dizzness and Sleepiness

Hi All,

It's been a while. The last eight months were rough with me and I have been a bit dormant. Depression and anxiety with job, fell and injured my ankle...but started a new page this month. New job and a better outlook, happy again after a long while.

However my health has not the best lately. I've been having a light-headed dizzy feeling that has me off balance and stumbling, and I am always sleepy/sleeping at any chance. This has been going on for the last 4-6weeks, feeling would last about 2-5 seconds and happen 3-5 times within an hour, but in the last week or so, it's  not going away, I feel it all day, and would sleep for hours on end during the day an still be very sleepy by 7-8pm at night . Also the pins & needles, numbness and pain in my right hand has gotten worse in the last week or two and is affecting my writing. Anyone ever had anything like this happen to them and does it go away or do I need to go see doc? Appreciate your feedback/advice?

It is nice to be back in the fold, thank you and I won't stray away again. It was a tough time but I am so happy that I am out of it and in alot better environment.

Hope the dizzy feeling goes away soon.

Take care and have a good day

Muchas Gracias Lulu! The heat is crazy crazy these days, we are experiencing some extreme weather patterns, extreme heat or excessive amount's of rain but more heat than ever. I've been trying to monitor the feeling of dizzness/light-headedness and I must say it has thrown me, but will continue to monitor (happened like three times while typing this)

Thank you so much again Lulu and I won't make myself scarce anymore :-)

I'm not experienced enough to provide the specifics that Laura can, but I just wanted to say I'm really happy to see you back and can absolutely relate to falling off the radar when depression and anxiety show up.

I hope you're able to try some of the options Laura mentioned. In the meantime, don't stay a stranger. Congratulations on the new job! Physical issues aside, a good work environment can do so much for overall quality of life.

I should add I also get the light headed, dizzy feeling for days on end and then it will just go away.  I'm never quite sure what is causing it, but it seriously affects my balance.  Besides MS, there are other things that cause this, including heat, dehydration and fluctuations in blood sugar levels.  Can you pay attention to when you have these feelings and see if there is a pattern?

Hi, I'm so glad you found a way to climb out of that hole - it takes a strong woman to do that.  The tiredness you are describing sure sounds like MS fatigue, which is a very real problem with MS. Our bodies just have to work so much harder to keep us upright and moving that it takes all our excess energy, and can leave us feeling depleted.  I'm not the expert, but it sure sounds like that to me.

I'm not sure what you are going to find on the island to help - over here we often get provigil (modafinil is the generic) or Nuvigil.  IF insurance won't cover the cost, then Adderall can be an option.  I would talk to the doctor about the exhaustion and see what options you have for treatment.

At least the heat should be down a bit in the islands - I hope you find your energy again, and soon!

hugs, Laura
