Radionlogist, & Neurolgist
I cut/pasted this from a radiology site. But LuLu is right, just google "do all lesions in ms have to be oblong, you'll get quite a list.
"
Lesion shape- Usually round or oval. A characteristic appearance is an oval lesion in a perpendicular orientation to the ventricular surface (an appearance which is sometimes referred to as "Dawson's fingers")."
The usual lesions for MS are ovoid and not round, but in medicine and science, nothing is ever 100%. Did the MS specialist do a thorough exam (walk,, touch nose, test reflexes, etc.) as well? We know the MRI doesn't tell all of the story.
Who told you that you have MS? It is a very complicated diagnosis to make and isn't just from whether you have brain lesions. Feel free to tell us more of your story and perhaps we can suggest your next steps to consider.
I have white matter lesions that are round, on the frontal lobes. I suffer from Hemiplegic migraines and I was told that that's what causing the lesions. I have not had a follow up MRI and I'm kind of wondering if there has been more that developed. Do you suffer from migraines?
