Changing doctors-poo

I spoke too soon.  As of July 1my insurance is changing and I will have to go to the UW now.  They do have a very well known MS clinic but I have a feeling from past experiences working in a clinic and referring to UW I will get lost through the cracks.  My current Family Doc is awesome and ordered my follow up MRI to be done end of June so it can be done on the same machine as my last was, and she added the sagital FLAIR  MS protocol on the recommendation of Neuro #2 who I never actually saw. I was supposed to see her in September.  So if anybody has any experience, preferably only good, let me know.   I've just been with the same group of doctors, nurses, hospital, etc all my life, and now at 37 in the middle of limboland have to switch over to a huge educational/research hospital.  Ugh!

Making changes of providers is so emotionally difficult, even when we are leaving doctors we don't like.  Having to give up ones you do feel are treating you well must be especially difficult.

Please think positive thoughts about this change.  The academic based centers seem to do a good job - I go to OSU for my treatment and have been pleased.

Stay positive,
Lulu

PS  - anyone out there with experience at UW?

Hi.  I can't say that having to change insurance and doctors is ever a good thing, BUT, as long as you get copies of ALL your records, including test results and films (on CD), you'll be fine.  A large teaching hospital is a great place to be.  I know it is hard to leave the doctors etc. you love and know though.  It's no fun.  But there could be a real upside.  Please be sure to get your records though.  A letter from your neuro explaining his findings and thoughts wouldn't hurt either.  Hope it goes smoothly.

Blessings, Jan
