? for ladies on copaxone

Okay guys, turn away, its girl talk...  :)

I have been on copaxone two months now (first shot was January 6th).   The last week I've started with spotting.  I am 43 and you can literally create a calendar off my cycle...  not due for my period until the 15th.   And outside of when I had an IUD put in, I've never had spotting.   First thought was it was related to copaxone.  Did some internet search and there are lots of maybes...  some say less then 1% of women...  Shared Solutions obviously denies it, but hey if they admitted to all the side effects, we might change meds and they would be out of a job :)

Thought I would post and see if anyone else on copaxone has noticed this.

Okay guys, its safe to look back...  just don't read the replies....

Thanks :)

Hi Stella!  That is exactly where I was a year ago.  I had never been sick or really to a Dr. other than the usual appts.  I was surprised when I found out I had MS and was put on Copaxone right away.  The shot is not bad at all.  I still have reactions to it just about everyday but they are manageable.  In May I will have put in a year.  I will have an MRI in May to see if its helping.  If not, I don't what to do.  I really don't want to do the muscular shot.  Ouch! Lol There is lots of info. here and don't hesitate to ask any questions!

Hope your shots go well :)

Jen,
I have been on Copaxone for a little over a year now and have never had this problem until this week when I started spotting. I really don't think mine is due to the Copaxone. I think I am finally beginning menopause (I am 55,my OBGYN says I am a late bloomer!)
Good luck!

Oh my!  I've been on Copax for almost a year.  After being on it for4 months I had endometrial ablation because because I was spotting in between cycles and lasting longer.  I never even thought of the Copaxone being the possible cause until I read this post.  Very eye opening for me.  I don't have any problems now except I still have the allergic reactions from my shots.  I will find out in May if they are working.

I have never heard of this side effect from copaxone and not sure how it could effect your cycle.  Anyway, I had a hysterectomy way back when so I couldn't have this symptom regardless.  Sorry.

My year on Copaxone I could have supported Kotex. I had to where a pad everyday because I never knew.  I even had a endometrial eblation. I still bled all the time. My MS Specialist was embarrassed about the topic. Shared Solutions was no help. My Gynecologist had had no experience with it. As soon as I went off Copaxone I stopped forever. I went into Menopause soon after. She has since told me her other MS patient on Copaxone has had the same issues. In my case I know I was peremenopausal and I think it or the MS sped the process along. It was odd I stopped bleeding with in days of stopping the Copaxone.

I did not stop the Copaxone because of it.
