MRI Results

This is the reported findings of my MRI should I be concerned? Do i need to follow up with anything, possibly a CTA scan?

There is a 19x6 mm (length x width) hyperintense T1, hyperintense FLAIR, extra-axial fluid collection over the left frontal lobe. This restricts diffusion. No significant mass effect on the underlying brain parenchyma. No abnormal extra-axial fluid collection elsewhere.
There is an ill-defined 12x12 mm isointense T1. hyperintense T2/FLAIR, nonenhancing signal abnormality area in the left parietal periventricular white matter. No diffusion restriction or surrounding edema at this area of signal abnormality. No mid-line shift or mass effect. No hydrocephalus. Major cerbrovascular flow voids are preserved.

Impression:
Hyperintense extra-axial signal over the left frontal lobe concerning for subacute left frontal extra-axial hematoma.

Hyperintense T2/FLAIR signal in the left periventricular white matter is nonspecfic. Consideration include prior infarct, prior infection/inflammation, demyelinating process. Recent intraparenchymal hemorrhage could also be considered. Malignancy is less likely given to the lack of enhancement and lack of surrounding edema.

You should be following up with the doctor that ordered the MRI. In reading the Impressions section, the radiologist indicated that demyelination might be responsible for the "Hyperintense T2/FLAIR signal in the left periventricular white matter".

As to the rest of the report, I have no idea. That's why you should follow up with your doctor.

I would follow up but he's out of town for the next two weeks.

I do not know what demyelination might be responsible for the "Hyperintense T2/FLAIR signal in the left periventricular white matter" means.
