MRI results

Had an MRI done and am so confused ,have to see neurologist now,,the findings were;;

Faint linear areas of increased signal in the right poster parietal periventricular white matter. Demyelinating disease cannot be excluded.

I am so nervouse because have no idea what all this means! Help!

The description you provided sounds like it was taken from  radiologist's report. These reports are, more often than not, written in a language that mere mortals cannot decipher :-)

All that can be determined form the information here is that the radiologist saw something on the image and that demyelination can't be ruled out as a cause. Demyelination is the damage to the myelin coating that surrounds nerves in the central nervous system. MS is only one of the causes of demyelination.

As Alex said, these results need to be interpreted by a neurologist. The neurologist will look at the report in combination with a clinical exam and any other tests performed to reach a diagnosis.

Have you seen the Neurologist before? No test diagnoses MS they need a history, symptoms, neurological exam, and test. Basically they see something and it is up to a Neurologist to figure out what it means. I hope you will see him soon.
