Laura, sorry to hear of your experience. I stopped taking all medications for my symptoms (I'm a limbolander) after a second trimester misscarriage when I was taking Lyrica and Clonazipam. And while the ob thought it was just due to autoimmune issues, I've had 3 perfectly healthy pregnancies and am convinced it was due to the medications.
Lulu, I wish you lots of luck.
I was only taking avonex for about two to three months when I found out that I was pregnant. The pregnancy was unexpected but when we found out we were overjoyed. The day I found out I called my family doctor and my MS doctor right away because of the avonex - they told me to stop taking it right away so I did. About a week later I was in the emergency room because I had bleeding - as soon as I told the emergency room doctors I had been taking avonex they just looked at each other because they knew that I was going to have a miscarriage. My hormone levels went down and they scheduled me for a d n c. A week and a half after my d n c I had terrible stomach pain and went back to my family doctor who scheduled me for an ultrasound. Turns out I was having an ectopic pregnancy which was odd because I had the d n c done, I'm young, only 21 and in very good health and had one previous healthy pregnancy. I had to get emergency surgery - my left falopian tube was removed and i almost bled to death internally. I have no doubt in my mind that all of my problems were caused by the avonex, which I will never take again in my life. And your right, there are practically no statisics on pregnancy and avonex because the risk of miscarriage is so high. I have been searching high and low for a success story and I have yet to find one =(
Hi lookup,
I have no experience with this so I didn't vote but I wanted to offer my encouragement. I understand MS gets really quiet when you are pregnant and you should feel great, well except for maybe normal stuff like morning sickness! :-)
We love babies around here - keep us posted.
Lulu
