Eye blur

Hi, everyone--

I've had my left eye go blurry on me before, but only when I got quite overheated (we've had a completely triple-digit summer). But the last couple of days, it's just blurry all the time. Color vision is fine, but if I cover my right eye and look only through my left, the world is a blur. I'm noticing this because I write and edit for a living, and I keep blinking unconsciously in an effort to clear my vision.

Has anyone had this experience? I've got no pain, just this blur.

Thanks,

I second what Jen said.  It looked like I was looking through Vaseline before my ON diagnosis.  Hold up a red pen in front of your face and close one eye to see if you notice any difference.  This was a quick test my opthamologist did prior to looking at optic nerves.  I did notice a color difference.  It was weird because I never noticed it until he pointed it out.  Later on, I closed my eyes and did a color test on all sorts of things and there was a big difference.

Another weird thing was that my right pupil was a different size than my left.  I didn't notice that either until after my ON diagnosis.

Sounds like ON to me...  I had a similar experience in 2007, before diagnosis.  I keep having blurred vision and double vision in my left eye, and that seems to be the eye, not the contact.

Well, it lasted all day yesterday into the evening, when it seemed to clear up. Only in my left eye, but it really strained my binocular vision all day. I actually have 20-20 vision, as per an ophthamologist visit from last winter. So this was some weird, transient episode. I've had it before, but like I said, only when I got hot (like sitting in triple-digit heat hot) or exercised. I couldn't find any reason for it yesterday. We'll see if it comes back. It's really irritating because I write and edit for a living, and yesterday was quite difficult as a result. We're talking Impressionist blurry here in that one eye.

I am having this same problem, except it is my right eye. I blink all the time trying to clear my vision, doesn't help.  I also did the eye thing with placing my hand over one and then the other.  I am not having any pain but they vision in my right eye is tanking.

I got my contacts 6 months ago.  My near sight was a little off, not much.  I could use a pair of 1.0 reading glasses and read 20/20 out of both eyes.  Now I am using a 1.75.

I scheduled an appt with my ophthalmologist.  It is set for Sept 10th.

At yesterday's neuro appt he spent a long time looking in my eye at the nerve.  I forgot to ask what he saw but I think if it had been normal he would have said something like...I don't see anything wrong with the nerve.

Maybe I will get some answers on the 10th.  If you get any before then please let me know what you find out.

I get that once in awhile... it's like you have to cover one eye to see.  Hope you feel better soon and let your Dr know about this.

If it's not gone away by now you should see a Dr..OK

take care and let us know how things are going

I've noticed that when I am done exercising, my vision is a bit blurred.  It does improve again as I get further away from the physical exertion.  I also notice the fatigue on my eyes from being at the computer too much.  I've not been officially dx'd with ON, but do get the ocassional stabbing pains in my right eye.

Good luck in tracking down someone who can give you answers.

be well,
Lulu

Yep- I tend to get that quite a lot, when I am too hot, overtired, been on the computer too long  or just plain 'out of the blue'. I always assumed it was because I had had ON but I could be wrong.

Hope you get some other answers.
