MS and Copaxone and cold sores

My daughter has a friend diagnosed with MS a few years ago.  She was saying today that she has noticed an increase in her oral herpes outbreaks, specifically since she started taking Copaxone.

She did some research and found potential connections but the research articles she sited were from 2006 or earlier.  They were talking about a specific herpes virus triggering the immune system and being one possible cause of MS.

Anyone have experience with an increase in cold sores?

How about the research?  Is it an old discarded theory?

If she has sores under the tongue, where the saliva gland is that could be a rare side effect of Copaxone. It is harmless. I had never had a cold sore but woke up with that one day. It lasted a month.

Thanks so much Quix.  I think my daughter is getting nervous for herself with my pending diagnosis and a personal history of herpes simplex,  Maybe feeling like her deck is getting stacked.  Your input should help ease her mind.  Thanks SO much.

I see NO connection except one of increased stress, the biggest trigger of the Herpes Simplex I virus.

The strain of Herpes that has been associated with MS is the Human Herpes 6 (HH6) virus which is the one that causes the childhood infection of high fever and rash called Roseola.
