I'm not sure there are foods that are specifically beneficial for MS. But as Shell said, if you eat a healthy diet you are likely to feel better overall.

I met with a Naturopathic DR and we reviewed my diet. I was eating too may carbs. This was causing me to crash when the sugars were gone. I was doing church nods at my desk. I know eat more protein and my overall energy level is better and more even. This improvement would be true with or without MS.

Given that fatigue is a common symptom, better energy management sure can;t hurt :-)

Hi Anne,

Sorry for the diagnosis. Have you started a DMD?

There are others who can speak to alternative therapies - I'm one of those who copes as long as I can, then I make the call to the doctor.

In terms of diet, I find when I'm eating foods that are bad for me I just feel badly in general, so it's not related to my MS, nor does eating enough fruit and veggies help my chronic MS problems. But, doing so definitely makes me feel better overall, which helps me cope w/those problems better.

When on steroids I had to ignore the hunger pangs, and that was hard. So, I added things like asparagus, and other natural diaretic type foods. And, then tried to add some low cal foods that would fill me up but not make me gain weight (stuff w/fiber in it).

Thanks for joining us! See you around.
