MS symptoms?

I've been on medication for periodic limb movements during the night. It was found during a sleep study. I've got resting tremor on all but one finger on my left hand. Lately I've noticed if I have a deep yawn (noticed it more in the morning when first waking) both my arms started shaking for a few seconds. I've got extreme fatigue and brain fog feeling too. I also noticed the other night if I tilt my head up and cough I get an electric type of shock feeling extending down my left arm, could this early MS symptoms?

Thanks Sarah....I will do that.  My last head MRI was 2 years ago. After I explained the tilt of the head and the shock sensation I got to my Neurologists nurse, they called back and scheduled an MRI of the cervical spine.

Hi there

I am sorry that you are experiencing some uncomfortabel symptoms and not knowing what is causing them can cause anxiety and stress.

The periodic limb movements sounds a bit like "myoclunus"  and you may find some other posts about this on this forum.

The electric shock feeling when you invert your neck also sounds a bit like "L'hermittes" which is something you can describe to a neurologist but they cannot see.

I would suggest that you try and get a referral to a neurologist. There are many other conditions which mimic MS and the symptoms you describe do sound like some of the symptoms people with MS experience...but this does not mean you have MS.

For diagnosis of MS you would need to have an MRI brain scan, blood eliminatoin tests, possibly Visual Evoked Potential Tests and maybe a lumber puncture (although this is not always required). However the best thing you can do is to keep a diary of all your symptoms and when you experience them to build up a history.

Have a look at the health pages at the top of this site as there is a lot of useful information there or look on "search this community" top right hand side if you want to see what other people have said before and you can put in a world like "myoclunus" and find relevant posts.

I am sure that others on this forum will give you some good advice but the first step would be to go and see your doctor.

Best wishes

Sarah
