MRI results

OK so I got my MRI results for my neck and brain. The MRI of my brain showed one lesion near my 4th ventricle in my Cerebellum and fine elsewhere. My Neck MRI showed nothing abnormal. I have been recently experiencing some nausea and pain in my forehead area and eyes. Nothing that realy fits the optic neuritis description but who knows. I have a slight nystagmus according to my neuro and I can sometimes feel it. Sometimes my legs feel weak. They are not actually weak, I am still able to lift the same if not more when I work out. My neuro relates all my symptoms to the one lesion in my Cerebllum. She believes I have ADEM. What do you all think? Does anyone know the Solumedrol dose for treating such a lesion.

Thanks Sean

That is what I thought about the ADEM but was not 100% sure. Thanks. No we have not done a spinal tap or the visual test. I am not going to see my neuro until June when we repeat the brain MRI. She is not that concerned and like I said before relates alot of my symptoms to the lesion in my cerebellum. I don't know what to think at this point. Some advice would be great thanks.

Hi, welcome back!  I remember you from a month or so ago when we talked about your fairly severe RLS and your desire to be a firefighter.  The last thing you told us was about your MRI and the lesion in the cerebellum.

Did you have a spinal tap?  If so did it show anything?

ADEM - is usually seen in kids under about age 12, but sometimes seen in adolescents and only rarely in young adults.  I don't know a lot about it, but I would be very interested in how they distinguished ADEM from MS at your age.

From what I understand they treat an episode of ADEM (Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis) with the same dose of Solumedrol that they use in a relapse of MS.  For an adult that would be 1 gram (1,000mg) IV daily for 3 to 5 days.  Sometimes they follow that with a taper of oral Medrol over a couple weeks.

Has your neurologist done a Visual Evoked Repsonse - VEP - to see if you had any sign of optic neuritis?  This can occur in either disorder.

I don't know if this helped, but I'm glad you came back!

im a 24 year old male with no other medical complaints. MRI's were done with and without contrast. The reason the MRI's were done was due to RLS type symptoms and my neuro wanted to be sure nothing else was going on.
Thanks sean
