My brain took a leave of absence

and didn't leave a forwarding address.

This morning the phone rang and awakened me from deep sleep.  I always awaken bright and clear, and ready to deal with stuff - old doc training, I guess.  Well, it was my MS neuro's office needing a whole bunch of info.  I needed to get my wallet to check my medical card.  I got up , went to the other room, got my wallet and sat back in my chair.  I sat there thinking about one thing and another until I heard this little voice shouting, "hello?? hello!."  I had completely forgotten that I was on the phone!  Huh?

And the other night I had one of those moments where you are so accepting of all the bad things that happen to you that you ignore them.  I was watching TV and noticed that everything in my right eye was blurry.  "Well, okay, we'll deal with this now."  So, I watched TV and dealt with not really being able to see well out of my right eye.  I felt kinda stupid when later I rubbed my eye and discovered that the right lens had fallen out of my glasses.  It was on the floor.

All of this is so helpful to my self esteem.

Just wanted to share with my addlepated friends.

Phone rang a couple of days ago, and I realized I was holding the TV/Satellite remote to my ear, saying, "Hello?  Hello?"

That multitasking has become a big, big issue for me in recent weeks.  Ask my wife. ;D

Not too worry Quix, my brain up and left me a long time ago. I no longer fret when I do stupid things and everyone who knows me expects it now and seem disappointed if I don't do something overly silly. lol

It can be a little scary, huh?  I had picked up the phone to call a sales rep, and when a strange (?) voice answered, I thought it was her husband.  Turns out I had dialed my home phone instead, and hubby picked up the phone - but I didn't recognize his voice.

The paresthesia thing can be a little problematic - I've gotten used to painful pinpricks everywhere, so I tend to blow them off.  However, I really need to check every time, because it may actually be something jammed in my toe.

Oh, those are rich!

Kathy - I will have to add a new paresthesia to the HP.  You may find that you have music coming out your butt.  In my house, though,  we call it something else!

Debbie - There is no getting over that one!  Your friend has the goods on you forever!  No, multitasking - and failure thereof - can show up in many ways.  I've been meaning to do a post on how multitasking can show up in MS.  There was a very good study that showed that a person with MS who has gait problems, has far more difficulty with gait when they are involved in other activities.  ....  Like talking.

This has implications for those of us who drive.  Careful with conversations with passengers or on the phone.

OMG, that's funny about the phone.  Last week I was talking to a friend on the phone and trying to mulitask (doesn't happen with ms) and I told her I had my cell phone and had my keys (was getting ready to go to the store) but  couldn't find my house phone to hang up in the cradle... there was a pause and then she responded  "the one you're talking to me on"  duh!!!!  So... do I tell my neuro that one????

I hope I do not offend by saying that this made me chuckle.  Not because of what you experienced, but rather your perspective and description of the experience.  I needed a chuckle today.  Thanks.

Thanks for the smiles; I love hearing that i'm not the only one doing stuff like that!

I'm so accepting of the odd buzz/tingle that I didn't think about the one in the right side of my bottom, until I heard some music coming from there; I had stuck my cell phone in my back pocket, forgot about it, and sat on it.

I'm glad you didn't step on the lense of your glasses!

Your addlepated friend,

kathy
