Don't know what's going on

I'm a 44 year old woman. For the last 8 months I've been in pain which seems to like to move.  Started out in the back, then when in the limbs and the rest of the body.  There have been a couple times where it felt like my back and rib cage were put in a vice and I was having trouble breathing.  My hands and feet go numb sometimes, my legs twitch at night.  It goes up and down and changes.  I've had a bone scan, x-rays, EKG and blood tests.  I've tried physiotherapy, acupuncture, deep tissue massage.  I'm in a bad period right now...lots of pain, hands are aching and joints really sore.  I am going to see a Rheumatoid arthritis specialist in November.

Any advice/thoughts?

Thanks.

Oh and I guess I should clarify the 'travelling' thing.  The pain is always there it's just that one day the legs or feet hurt more, the next it's the back, etc.

thx.

Thanks so much Lulu. I needed to hear some supportive comments right not.  I have been off work for the last 3 days after spending the night in Emergency.  All they want to do is give me drugs...which all I really want to do is find a diagnosis and then deal with it.

No, I don't have an appointment with a Neurologist.  It took me months to get in to the this specialist.  No to the MRI as well.

I may put a bit of a history together for my doctor's appointment, just so I don't forget anything.  I always feel like a bit of a whiner when I see doctors, but I think it's important they know everything that has been going on.

Thanks again.  I appreciate the support Lulu.

Hi Corriegirl and welcome .....

Have you been seen by a neurologist?  Pain moving back and forth in the body doesn't really sound to me like MS, but I'm no doctor, and haven't seen any of your medical history.

Have you had an MRI done? I don't see that on your list of tests.

The vice grip in the rib care could be associated with the dreaded MS hug, but could be others things.  Same with the numb hands and feet, and twitching legs.

Please stick with trying to find out what is wrong - don't let the doctors dismiss you.  These  types of pains can be hard for doctors to believe since they can't be seen.

Welcome again - I hope we can help you with more ideas.

my best,
Lulu
