My legs aren't working too well....

This morning it is difficult to walk; my legs are heavy and don't move like they normally do; I have to think about it, and hang on tight when going down the stairs.

I really overdid it in Disneyland, and my legs got heavy then, but with the help of Provigil I kept going, even with a nasty virus.

I came back to exhaustion that makes it difficult to think and do what needs to be done.

I've been to PT twice, for my knee but they work on my lumbar and thoracic areas of my back, as well as giving me a bunch of exercises.  They also did manual traction on my lower back.

Help me guess; are my leg symptoms from:

1. possible MS exacerbation.

2. irritation from the manual traction.

3. irritation from the exercises (that I've been too tired to do every day)?

My arms and head are shaky again, kind of dizzy and fuzzy-headed,  and I had a hard time driving the two miles to physical therapy; had to be hypervigilant, which wasn't easy.  My eyes are blurring, and I need to fill out the paperwork for seeing my new neuro-opthalmologist next Thursday.

Sorry if this question ended up sounding more like whineing!

What do you think?

Kathy

Good advice!  I put the fatigue and difficulty walking in my timeline, as I'm dizzy, too, but it could just be a small flare from over-doing it.

I'll take it easy this weekend; need to do some housecleaning as my roommate's friend from Springfield is coming to visit tomorrow, but it's mostly picking up stacks of magazines and piles of paperwork, easy stuff.

I'm still smiling about Disneyland; I have my framed picture of me and the family screaming down Splash Mountain on the dining room table.  OK, I'm the only one screaming, but it's a great picture; the looks on the other faces are priceless, too.

Hugs,

Kathy

Hi Kathy,

When I saw the subject line of this post, the first thing I thought was that you were paying the price for your fun trip to Disneyland.

I think you have just been feeling so much better from the Provogil that you have overdone and exhausted yourself.

Rest, rest, rest, and maybe you will feel better tomorrow.  Just think of how much fun you had at Disneyland, and smile while you get yourself rested and feeling better.

Hugs,

I'm finding that my body won't let me do much mor than rest up a bit!  My brain is in on the act, too.

I've been trying to get my paperwork ready and my brain and eyes and hands aren't cooperating very well.

I think I'll sign off and lie down and try reading some, after I put some drops in my eyes.

be well,
Hugs,

Kathy

I had the virus and that time of the month together.  My bladder is already acting up, even though I've been taking Pyridium to try to calm it down, as well as Premarin cream twice a week.  Definitely constipation, too, even taking Miralax and eating high-fiber and drinking lots of filtered water.

I'll go mix up some of that applesauce-prune juice-oat bran constipation recipe that my urogynecologist gave me the recipe for.  1 cup applesauce, 1 cup oat bran, and 2/3 cup prune juice.  I have some organic apple raspberry sauce,  so it should taste pretty good.

Thanks for the advice!

Sounds to me like the virus brought on a little flare.  I always get one right after I've been sick - usually about two or three days after I recover from the virus.  Time of the month can also bring on a little flare.  Last flare I had was the weird one that came with paroxysmal dystonia (hard to spell!) when I would get all buzzy and tingly down below, my legs would get weak, and my back would arch for no apparent reason.

If you're having back problems, start preparing for the other symptoms...  bowel and bladder.  Whenever my legs are weak, I get the worst constipation, and I have to urinate all the time.  (I've had to pee three times in the last three hours!)  Drink lots of water, and keep up with those prunes...  It makes me feel old, but it's better than the alternative.
