Unfortunately every time I forget to take a Baclofen, I'm reminded in a rather painful way about an hour later! I don't like taking so much either - I'm on 6 a day, and I'd like to cut down, but I can't. 6 a day and then Flexaril if the spasms break through seems to be the minimum.
I do have a lesion between C4-6 that they saw on the MRIs I had on a 1.5T. So, I guess it could be from that or from one of the ones in my brain...who knows.
I was just really wondering if others on here who have MS get the same tightness/spasms in their neck, too. I get them a lot on my left leg and around the left side of my torso.
I see that you both get spasticity like me. I was trying to cut back my Baclofen...maybe that was a bad idea.... I just hate take medication, especially if I can get by without it or with a lower dose. Maybe it's not so smart of me to make my own decisions about that..haha....
Yeah, my neuro told me that a lesion in the brain can cause spasticity, but I'm not sure that I believe him - he was looking at his .7T MRI and saying "there's nothing there!" and I'm saying to him "okay, but I'm still having symptoms." So that was his explanation.
It wasn't until I forced the issue and asked for a 3T MRI that we finally found evidence of lesions in the spine, and a clear, definite reason why I was having all these spasms around the torso.
Granted, I think it's certainly possible to have spasticity from a lesion in the motor cortex, but it's more likely that it's something in the neck. Especially when it's so specific and localized.
I get upper back/shoulder and leg spasms. My doc said that any lesion in the c-spine or even in the motor cortex of the parietal lobe can cause spasticity. Bad wiring means from the brain down. This is why it is kind of useless to try and match a lesion to a specific symptom. A lesion on the main motor switching center (anterior midbody of the corpus callosum) can cause motor symptoms just about anywhere.
Sounds like you might have a lesion in your neck. I get shoulder and back spasms around the level of the lesions in my back. My paresthesia are usually further down - legs and knees.
