Thus morning friday, I got a really bad headcahe, I think the spinal headache.

I dont want to get a blood patch, will this heal on its own?

The Neurosurgeon would not do a thing for my lumbar head ache. My PCP gave me Oxycotin several days later. I only had to take two. It gradually got better over two weeks.

Good luck,
Alex

I just had a lumbar puncture on Tuesday, Oct 20th.  I did fine that day and then woke up on Wednesday morning with an excrucitating headache, worse then the migraines I get.  I only got relief by laying down in a dark room and no sound.  It lasted from Wednesday morning until Sunday afternoon.  I cried so much but knew that eventually it would get better but wished I had gone to the doctor and not went through the agony for so long.  Good luck and hope everything comes back ok.

I had a spinal headache for about 2 weeks, and was pretty incapacitated.  I kept thinking that it would go away, but it just lingered on.  Plus, I had such a long drive to get back to the hospital, that I figured that the long drive back would cause it to leak again if I got a blood patch.

My headache didn't start until a couple of days after my LP.  Be sure to drink plenty of caffeinated fluids.  I'd get the blood patch if I had to do it over again because my headache got progressively worse before going away.

I loved my blood patch; it was quick, painless, and took my headache away immediately.

I've read about people waiting for it to heal on its own, and it took time, taking it very easy, and much pain.

It wouldn't hurt to call your neuro's office and discuss it.

It can take up to two weeks for it to heal on it's own.  I've had two spinal headaches and two blood patches.  It isn't fun (the patch) but if you have the headache, IMO it's worth it.  Call your dr., they will probably advise the BP.

Why don't you want to get a blood patch? It's fast and effective.

Actually it's quite normal for a few days to elapse before the headache sets in. You don't want to be incapacitated all weekend, so if it's bad enough, call your neuro now, or call the doctor on call.

If it's just an annoying dull ache, do your best to deal with it and it should go away. If it's like you seriously can't stand up then I would call your neuro and see if they suggest a blood patch. Can you just take it easy this weekend and try to refrain from trick-or-treating? :)
