That is an MS dose. Typical MS Pulse dose is 500-1000 Mg a day for 3-5 days.

Good Morning...or I guess it is afternoon now.
The prednisone he has me on is an extremely high dose. I am taking 25 tablets each day for 3 days and I want to say each pill is 25 mg...or was it 50? I can't remember. I do know that after 6 hours, I feel like crap! Not a huge fan of the Prednisone. Hopefully it settles things out. But doesn't that sound like a huge dose?????
All in all, this sounds like a good appointment. Remember that neurological time moves slowly, and in Canada I think it slows down even more. :-)
The steroids are a good thing to try - they might give your body a break. Here's hoping.
Bravo for a neurologist who recognizes that the LP won't seal the deal for you - it can be used as supporting evidence but it won't give you a diagnosis on its own.
I hope they can get you in sooner for the followup MRI.
Lulu
Thanks for the comments. He feels this is definitely going down the MS trail. I was scheduled for another MRI in the fall and he is going to try and have that done sooner than later. Canadian Health Care moves a little slower when it comes to MRI and other tests...it's free...but you wait.
In the meantime he has started me on a steroid treatment starting tomorrow morning, though I am thinking after having this flare (at least that is what I am calling it) since January, the steroids are a little late, but he doesn't think so. He is the doc so I'll will follow his lead and go from there.
I asked about a lumbar puncture and he said he really wants to wait until after the 2nd MRI and see if we even really need it. He has also sent me for a lot of blood work to rule out lupus and other autoimmune issues.
I didn't get a definite answer, but at least I have a plan. I am okay with that for now.
I hope your appt goes good. And they don't give you a shove off.
Your concerns seem valid, I hope they take it all into consideration. You definitely should get another MRI - not only on your brain, but perhaps on your c & t spine, too.
Good luck!
Kelly
Good Luck! I hope everything goes well and you get some answers.
I would try to push for another MRI sooner. My neuro recommended me to get another MRI three months after my initial one. Everyone's situation is different but a year seems like a long time. Especially when you still aren't feeling well.
Let us know how it goes!
