New week ahead

I am thinking I would really like to back up and redo last week in a different way, but that isn't possible so we have to move forward.  As is our custom, it's time to share what's up this week and it can be anything you want to share. there is no  limit on what you share - this is a quick way we can keep track of each other.

here's to a new week and a better week,
Lulu

I'm on a medical leave of absence right now. Got my MRI results a while back and met with my PCP this morning to go over them:

"EXAM#____ TYPE/EXAM___________________________________________   CPT Code

004893063  MRIXRD/MRI  HEAD W/O  +  W/  CON 70553

MRI HEAD

CLINICAL INDICATION: 10-year history of neurologic symptoms consistent with demyelinating CNS disease

TECHNIQUE: Initial unenhanced axial and sagittal sequences were obtained. This was followed by post-enhanced Tl- weighted sequences after the administration of 8 cc of gadolinium intravenously.

DISCUSSION:     Comparison is made to prior study from October 8, 2007

There is cerebral atrophy with accompanying enlargement of the ventricles and extra-axial fluid spaces. Periventricular, pericallosal and subcortical white matter changes are again seen which has progressed from prior study particularly in the left frontal parietal region. These range in size from several millimeters up to 7 mm. No abnormal enhancement is seen. Differential again includes chronic small vessel ischemic changes versus prior infection or trauma, although in the appropriate clinical setting demyelinating plaques are also a possibility. The vascular flow voids are normal. There is no evidence of mass lesion, mass effect or acute bleed. There is no acute ischemic change. The orbits, visualized sinuses, bony calvarium and overlying soft tissues are normal.

IMPRESSION: Progression of the bilateral white matter changes likely representing a combination of chronic small vessel ischemic disease and possible demyelinating plaques. No abnormal enhancement or acute ischemic change is seen."

The local neurological group, which has an MS specialty, won't take me "due to my complex history". My PCP recommends a specialist in demyelinating disease at Yale, so my 80 year old dad is going to have to drive me there. I wonder how long it will be before I can get in?

LuLu- busy schedule for you on top of dealing with your clots. Do you feel like a pincushion?

Alex- Sounds like a plan, some quiet time at the lake. Hope you are feeling stronger physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

JahJah- Wonderful news...a baby! Congrats!

Nothing too drastic here...   Went to my first 'in person' support group thru the NMSS local chapter.

Met some very nice people.  Was truly a support / therapy group, nothing wrong with that, but definitely not a replacement for the meetup group I am trying to get started.  If I was not already involved with a community like this, maybe it would have had more impact on me to find such a nice group of people locally.   Its only once a month, so definitely will attend again, but definitely not a replacement for you guys :)

Otherwise, only other thing that might be happening this week...  apparently I am getting a new kitten...  whether I want one or not....   its a long story and won't go into the whole story much, cause its a bit of a religious / spiritual debate or question of what you believe in.  But, my sister in law has come into contact with a kitten she said is a familiar or guardian that belongs to me.   Wasn't looking for another kitten, but my husband and I both joke, doesn't matter, appears this little one is coming home.   Least she is a cute little bugger...  have seen photos, laugh it feels like adopting long distance!!

Have a busy next week, but guess I'll wait for next week to share about that!!  :)

Jane, you waited a little bit after the wedding to take your honeymoon? My brother did the same thing - except they waited about 2 yrs so they could afford to go to Fiji for 10 days.

Sun. we went to see the movie, Brave. We opted for that since the movie my partner wanted to see, Batman, would make me think of the terrible incident in Aurora the entire time. It was really cute.

Thurs eve I'll be watching the Denver/Chicago game, too, with John (JB), since I have vested interests in both teams. Thus, we'll be re-arranging my evening schedules for it - Thurs eve we typically clean the house & Wed eve I go grocery shopping - everything is being pushed up a day.

And I'm working all week. No doctor appts scheduled.

Stitches out on my thumb  yesterday, so am 10 days behind in summer work in the woods, can't talk too much about it, lawsuit and all, but am back among the living and no more excuses not to do dishes.......

Tysabri infusion on Wednesday, hoping this one goes better, residual surprises and all, but nothing much else planned.  Garden is growing by leaps and bounds and summer is drawing to a close all too fast!

Everyone have a good week

I don't have anything planned this week-other than trying to survive without airconditioning.

Lulu, and HVAC: please continue to keep us posted...

Jane, and Jahjah:  Congratulations!

To all:  I hope your week is pleasant.

Oh my JahJah, that is great news.  We haven't had a baby around here for a long while. Pregnancy and MS get along really well and you should have a great time feeling good over the next 8 months.

Congratulations and I hope your husband is as excited as you and me! Thanks for sharing that good news.

As for the betaseron, I am sure you have talked to your neurologist about how to proceed.

I had my 2 hour long MRI this morning, brain, neck and spine with and without the contrast dye. I took a Diazapam an hour before so I was fairly relaxed. This place gives you earphones to listen to music while in the machine. Of course I couldn't hear any the music because the damn machine was so loud! I see my neuro next week to review my MRI and JC blood test results. I am really hoping for good news and getting to be able to begin Tysberi.

PT, as always, on Wednesday.
MS  interfered with 2 events I was really looking forward to last week :

- I was planning on attending a friends baby shower on Thursday but it was 101 degees out and  at least 50 people attending so I made the decision to skip the party an stay home and remain cool.

- I did have a great time at my friends camp, swimming ank kayaking in the lake. Unfortunately it was still very hot at night so we decided to drive home after dinner Saturday night, rather than spending one more night in the heat and headed back to our air conditioned home.
Small sacrifices we have to make to  not overheat!

I truly hope everyone has a good week  :)

Stay cool my friends,
Deb

Last wk was a painful week for me. Pain in different parts of my body, so annoying. I would like a redo though of my close friend's wedding. I showed up late (but I caught the good parts) because of pain and I had to leave early also because of pain. I'm sad because I missed her first dance with her new husband and the cutting of the cake. All the same, she was very understanding and reached out to me after everything was said and done to make sure I was feeling better.
This week....
Well I found out this morning that I am four weeks pregnant. However, I didn't know I was pregnant and was still taking my betaseron along with pain killers. I'm a bit nervous because I'm wondering if I hurt the baby but on the other hand, I am super excited bc this is our first child (my husband n I who got married April 2011).
I hope every one has a good week. I'm here waiting on husband so that I can tell him the good news.

Tuesday I have to be at the PCP at 8 am for another blood stick.  My INR today was 1.6 and we're shooting for somewhere in the 2-3 range.    Then I have a GO RED for Women meeting at noon, followed by a massage at 1:30.  We have an outdoor concert at 8, that should be fun.

I am trying to only  look at one day at a time right now, but I am thinking Wednesday and Thursday are free of anything!

- Today is a civic holiday in Alberta and I'm happy to have my husband at home.
- need to tackle a pile of laundry and errands in preparation for travel to the east coast next week.
- tomorrow, see my GP re: my CPP disability claim
- PT Weds
- deep tissue massage Thurs
- first ever acupuncture treatment tomorrow!

AhabKara - that black spot in your vision might indicate optic neuritis; maybe you should get it checked out so if it is, you can decide if you want to treat it with IVSM.  If so, the sooner you do, the sooner it will resolve.

I have my new neuro appt on Friday.
My son had his 15 month appt today--and he is 35 inches tall! Wow!

I plan on getting my classroom in order for the upcoming school year.

I have some new MS symptoms that are bugging me, and I cannot help but wonder if this black spot I am seeing (it looks like a bee that is about four feet away) is MS related or not.

I guess I shall see.

Hbananas, what a bitersweet moment to watch the show, I hope you can enjoy it.  i hope your kids from Joplin are beginning to find life return to something resembling normal.

TT- those chocolate bars sound yummy.  Ship some my way, ok?  Good for youto be back in school - I know that feeling well, having taken a 28 haitus myself.

Jane - Congrats again on the marriage.  Just couldn't do a big one, huh?  I say you redo the honeymoon every week!  But take some time to pack- Boston is calling.

I am breathing better, but still not perfect. I am due at the PCP's office in about an hour to do the next blood test to see if the bump in coumadin is doing anything.  Then I drive to Columbus for my Tysabri.  After that is done, I go to a different building a few miles away for the next 7T MRI as part of the Tysabri study I am doing. There sure is a lot to update on my health record since the last time, including my relapse and this PE.  I should be home by 5, I hope. It will be a very long day, but the sun is shining and the sky is blue so it should be a nice drive if the semi-trucks stay out of my way.  :-)

Nothing health-wise. My married Joplin kids are coming for a short visit mid-week, so I'm looking forward to that.  Saturday is the show that I had to miss bein in because of the heat in our rehearsal hall.  Hubby and I will be attending, and it should be a good time!

Hey groovers

Well, it has been an extremely hectic social calendar these last 4 weeks culminating with me playing golf yesterday with a friend who has a cart to drive around in. We had a great time.

A quiet week ahead getting back into the swing of university study after an absence of 22years. I just took my first accounting exam this afternoon and thought I had failed miserably but surprise, surprise I got 80%. Woo hoo!

Apart from this very mundane week with kids at school, wife at work, me working, studying, cooking, juicing.

Tonight I'm planning to make some all natural chocolate bars with raw cashews, organic cacao powder, vanilla and a few other ingedients.  If I get time I will pop on another loaf of yummy Lauckie brand gluten free bread in the bread maker. After 6 months of searching I finally found a gluten-free bread mix that tastes like bread sort of.

Have a great week everyone

How is the lung, my dear?
