News on my wrist

I finally had an MRI done of my left wrist yesterday. It only took 10 months to get the VA to do one. I just got off the phone with my PC as she called to let me know that there are torn ligaments in my wrist. I can't tell you how many times I had complained about the pain in my wrist to people at the VA over those 10 months. Anyway my PC is referring me to an orthopedic surgeon and physical therapy for the problems with my wrist. But at least I finally have vindication that there was a REAL problem with my wrist.

I finally got called back by the nurse. She told me that my PC put in the consult (Finally) with orthopedic department. So now I am waiting again for a call to schedule the appointment. I'm not sure if I heard the nurse correctly or not, but it sounded like they only see patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So no telling how long I'll have to wait for an appointment.

Well it looks like I will have to revise my assessment for my new PC downward. It had been 2 weeks since my PC told me on the phone that she was going to order a consult with a orthopedic surgeon but none had been scheduled yet. So while at my recreational therapy appointment at the VA I stopped by my PC clinic to find out why. Turns out my PC never put in the order for the consult. They nurse I talked to there said she would talk to my PC when she finished up with the patient my PC was seeing and would call me later. Well I never got a call from that nurse or my PC.

Darn it, that is so discouraging to hear.  It I is exhausting to have to continuously follow up with things like that, I'm sorry this doc is like the rest after all.

Thank goodness you have one medical professional who is looking after you quickly!

Now if only the others would get in line and try a little bit. :)

  Thanks!

I two things that surprise me is that:

  1) I always have my cane with me when I have seen these "so called" medical people and have not swung it when they have told me that since the X Ray was OK I didn't need an MRI.

  2) That my current PC called me personally within 3,5 hours of the MRI to tell me the results. In the past I have been lucky if a nurse working for my PC called me within 3 days of getting a result. I guess after all of these years of going to the VA I finally got a keeper for my PC.

That is awful Dennis but at least now they can help.  I don't know why this delay in your care surprises me given their history of dragging their feet, so I hope the surgeon can see you soon.

I also hope the pain is manageable,
Corrie
