OT - surgery update and thank you's

To all who wished me good thoughts over my pacemaker "generator" replacement.  It does sound more impressive than "battery" !!  I'm told I have the very latest in technology and can now be "found" by the new system that "reads" your pacemaker without you having to "phone home" and do the telephone game; alas I had to burst the pacemaker rep's bubble and remind her that I am only near a "landline" in the winter.....to which she said the new system would not do me any good........However, due to the "wonderful" meds I wasn't suitable to ask the MRI questions I so wanted answers to!

It went well, the OR staff was super and although was conscious sedation, I don't remember "the actual" hour.....I slept for quite awhile after coming back upstairs, trying to "uncross" my eye muscles which doc said was due to the drugs (told her that was what MS was like - LOL).  I have to go back to the doctor next Wednesday.

Am thoroughly exhaused, this "old lady" forgot it takes longer to recover and have had muscle spasms all afternoon, so going to take more pharmaceuticals and my usual round of drugs and crawl in early.  The lidocaine is wearing off and the incision site is "quite painful" to put it mildly.  Fortunately, all errands are done for a few days and I can relax and recharge myself, both mentally and physically.  They even let me keep the original battery!  Told them I "earned it" LOL

Thanks again, it was nice going down knowing everyone was thinking of me!
Hugs Sarah....good for another 7-8 yrs.......

Thank you all.  Am slowly improving, now that I figured out some of the verbal the discharge instructions were wrong.  Just took my medical brain a couple days to think it out.

I'll be gone from the forum most of the summer, many things are going on in my life and internet is not a high priority in the deep woods of my peaceful zone.  Everyone stay safe and happy this summer.

So glad to hear there were no complications. I'll admit, I know very little about pacemakers, but I would assume having a new battery is a reassuring feeling!

I hope that incision knocks it off and let's you mend without too much discomfort. By the way; a battery that used to be inside you? Now, THAT'S a conversation piece! All the best in your recovery.
