Oh my goodness....MS and bee stings???

Hey gang,

My kiddos were watching this nature show about natural rememdies and using insects, etc for healing purposes.  Low and behold this lady has MS and noticed when she was stung by a bee (they were honey bees) that she was able toget around a bit better and didn't feel as stiff.  She tested the theory once more and the same thing happened.  Her husband immediately rushed out and bought a bee box with a hive and started raising bees.

She shared that she has had over 17,000 stings since starting her "bee therapy" and she feels the best she has felt in years.  I'm not sure how often she applies the stings, but it showed her doing it.  She stings herself several times a day.  It showed her picking a bee up with tweezers and holding it to her skin on her arm.  OUCH!  I think I would rather have an injection should my time arise.

Just wanted to share this strange story!!!  Any takers on the "bee therapy"?  NO THANKS!
Blessings
Stacie

There is NO evidence that it works.  But then even medications don't work if you don't believe in them.........

I truly can't believe that people keep believing this works....think about it.....really think about it, work it thru from the "sting" to your body system......it doesn't even come close to connecting logically.

It's like saying if the rattlesnake bites you, it can cure RA or ease your pain......

I know a few people with hives and they offer to sting ya for RA and people do swear by it.   I tell you what --- if I feel a little crazy I'll try it out and let ya all know what happens.   We have 4 hives we keep for honey!

My cousin gets stung for her RA and swears it helps her tremendously. She has met some MS clients there who have had positive results. There is very little if any scientific proof that it works but if it works for someone, and it's not causing any negative side-effects, and you can afford it, I say by all means go for it. :)

Tammy, they do mean well, usually, but are clueless as to what MS really is and what it involves.

I think you make a great point about their perception that we are resistant to being better by refusing some of these treatments.

It seems like everyone (who doesn't have ms) has a strong opinion about some strange therapy they heard about once. And they're convinced that you don't "want to be healthy" if you don't take their advice!

You're right though, they mean well....

Bee sting therapy was all the buzzzz about 20 some years ago.  It has been tested with scientific rigor and found to not make a difference.  So if you are tempted to try it, think twice.    I still have people who mention bee sting therapy to me as an option.  These people mean well...............

My son is deathly allergic to bees!  More than once we've ended up in the hospital after he was stung.  I can guarantee you I'm not going to find out if he gets it from me.  LOL!

That must have been a common treatment years ago.  There is an elderly woman in my congregation that keeps insisting that I get that kind of therapy too!  (Not going to happen!)  I just thank her for her concern, and tell her not to worry, my doctor is taking very good care of me.

Yikes!

Definitely would not be one of my picks of something to do to make me feel better, lol

Funny you mention this - I started I discussion this a.m. regarding being careful w/the www for scam and spam - this is a perfect example!

good gracious, next we will have someone who doesn't know they are allergic to bees, get stung and go into shock.....

I personally have to carry a ampule of epi and a syringe in case one of those little cuties sees me coming and they often do in the apple orchard in the summer.

OMG what was she thinking, oh hang on a minute, she wasn't from this planet was she?! Now I always feel better after a few bits (blocks) of chocolate and a glass of wine, hmmmm i think i'll test that out with a block for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and i think i'll try soaking in the wine. ROFL

Unfortunately though 'bee sting therapy' is actually one of those listed MS 'cures', no scientific evidence that I can find to back it up, hmmmm just like all the other 'cures' lol funny that!

Giggling............JJ
