Hello & thanks for the info. I tested negative for Lymes & have only had a MRI of my head(a year ago). My symptoms are progressively getting worse & therfore feeling more desperate to know whats going on with me. I go back to my GP next Monday, is there any suggestions to what I need to do next?
There's Neuromyelitis Optica (Devic's Disease), ADEM (Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis), Transverse Myelitis, Sarcoid, and Lyme, off the top of me wee head. See why people take years to get diagnosed?
Devic's is a disease that affects the spinal cord and optic nerves only, but spares the brain. It can have repeat attacks, like MS.
ADEM is a bad autoimmune reaction to a viral illness or vaccination that demyelinates places in the brain and spinal cord, but it's a one-time deal.
TM is inflammation of the spinal cord that is usually longish, about 3-8 vertebrae in length, that transverses the spinal cord--sometimes blocking all signals below the level of the lesion. It is also usually a single episode.
I don't know much of anything about sarcoid or Lyme, except that they also cause demyelination. There are several on this board who DO know a lot about these. I hope you get the answers you need.
