A Good Neurologist is Hard to Find

It seems no one liked my original question, and I will be the first to admit it was a lot to plow through.... 16 years misdiagnosed/in Limboland.

So, let me just cut to the chase with this quick and easy question:

HOW DOES A GAL GO ABOUT FINDING A *GOOD* NEUROLOGIST?

Hi, Sorry to tell you I believe that a good neuro is very ILUSIVE !!!  I have seen so many, and just came back from the MS Research centre in UBC in Vancouver, but, sorry to say, I wasn't impressed there either.

Word of mouth is the best way, the MS's societies I have been told CAN NOT recommend a neuro, even if they know of a good one.  You would probably wait for a very long time to get in with a good one.  Not that we have to settle with anything less, We all want the honest neuro, with compassion and a agood bed side manner, and when you finally get your diagnoses I have to say with just getting mine a few weeks ago for sure, that it took the wind out of my sails and I still hoped that it was wrong.  But, symptons are so different for everyone, and we all seem to
develop differently on our own road.

We have to keep going on, and make sure that we keep coming up and getting the support , that is a must.

take care, and good luck,
Candy

Thanks.  I don't know anyone else with problems like mine.  I am seeing a counselor at the MS Center, but she is affliliated with my doctor.  I am not allowed to meet other patients there until I have a confirmed diagnosis.

I don't even have a "possible MS" diagnosis officially.  My current diagnosis is "weak legs."  Sounds so benign.  It is amazing how much these "weak legs" is messing up my life.

You know, I think I would call the infusion center at your local hospital and ask the nurse taking calls.  Truly, they know which neuro's spend time at the hospital and who is taking care of their patients.  I have the best ever neuro today and I know the infusion center has nothing but brags for her.  Having spent nine years in limboland, I know the journey and wish you the best.

Hmmm good question, I have had mine from the get go but am in the process of looking for a new one. Word of mouth would be a good way, if you know of anyone who can reccommend one.

Wishing you luck,
Paula
