Prednisone ?

Hi All,

Does Prednisone give you the racey heart feeling even after your through taking it?  I've not been on any since Saturday, and dropped the doses down to only 1 for the last 4 days.  I still can't sleep, and it's like my pulse is up, continuous.  Not up and down even, just up.

Any thoughts?

SL

I would say that if your  heart rate isn't better by tomorrow (Friday) you should have this looked into.  Just give the doctor that prescribed it a call and let them know  how you are feeling and if they think it is nothing to be concerned about fine but at least you have called and you will have the piece of mind for the weekend right?

Thanks Rena! Wow, I did not know that.  I slept last night just about a full night for the 1st time, in 3, almost 4 weeks.

I hope you are right on with this one, as I don't need any more issues.  When I woke up, it was still high, which is strange, but I hope with more nights of rest, it goes away, or I'll have to address it.

Thank you all so much,
SL

Maybe after being wired and not sleeping for so long, your heart is tired and that is why it is acting up?

Your heart needs you to get a decent amount of rest in order to function properly as well so maybe that is part of the cause?  Hopefully it will settle down now that you have finished that horrible drug from he**.  I hope so for your sake!

Lots of Hugs,

Rena

Hey,

Thanks for the responses.  To answer a couple of questions, I was on it 2 different times, the past 3 weeks (yea, do the math, I ended the 1st on my own sooner than they said to), big mistake.  The 2nd dosing started me on 60 mgs a day, then tapered off from there.  Me, being a stubborn cuss, cut the doses in 1/2 after the 1st 2 days.  I knew I couldn't handle being that wired, for that long.  Go ahead, you all can hollar at me I deserve it.

I got a lot done, while on it, and was not overly crazed, I didn't even have the heart racey, or pulse then, I just did not sleep.  This all started the past few days, and was just hoping that it was the effects of the prednisone, and will wear off soon.

It's weird, it just feels like my heartbeat is fast, all day and night.

I had a glass of Bailey's last night, just couldn't take it anymore, and managed to get about 3 hrs of actual sleep....woo hoo

be well,
SL

I had a lot of energy, and felt warmish all the time - but my heart rate was pretty normal, for me.  I was on it for three weeks during my last flare.

I was on it recently for 5 days 50mg/day and I had the racing heart feeling, the mood swings, the psycho me feeling for about a week afterward!  It was horrible and I sure don't want to take it again!

How many mg were you taking...10mg x 4 days.  You could always call your pharmacist and ask if this is normal or if you should have yourself looked at...that is what I would do anyway...

Anyone have any other thoughts on this?
