Provigil - if this helps....

I had my neuro switch my Provigil rx from monthly to a 90 day supply so I could save money.  It was costing me $50 a month, because my insurance has it as a tier 3 drug.  Going to the 90 day supply lets me get the third month for $0 - it would have cost me $100 for 90 days instead of $150.

I was very surprised and pleased when the new rx arrived in the mail - Provigil has now gone generic, and Modafinil (the generic name) was shipped instead of the name brand.  The cost?  A total of $20 for a 90 day supply.

Maybe now that it is available in generic form all of our insurance companies will be less difficult to work with and get approved.  We can only hope........

I wish.  I can only get a one month supply of Nuvigil and it costs me $75 in co-pay.  I haven't quite figured out the exact definition of what a "maintenance drug" is according to my benefit package.

I've been taking daily doses of either Provigil or Nuvigil for over 5 years now - always a month at a time.  I wouldn't want to think about it except I wouldn't be functional without it.

About two weeks ago I asked the pharmacist if switching to generic Provigil would reduce my copay.  I was told my cost on Nuvigil and generic Provigil is the same --- 30 doses with a co-pay of $75.

Enjoy your good fortune Lulu.  Your insurance always seems to treat you well.
