Thanks sllowe for posting this link it is great info. Been surfing on cranial nerves as my tongue has gone wonky. Haven't found anything on it but this was so straight and easy to understand.

Q&S - i added the address for the cranial nerve writeup to the health page I put together to use as a quick index for recalling some of these. I hope others will add to this HP so we can find these excellent resources quickly.

Your info along with the info on the other nerves should be part of a health page :)
Thanks much, SL, for bumping this.
I found Quix's comment "Very few disorders affect multiple cranial nerves. MS is by far and away the most common" very interesting. I have always wondered what could cause me to have BOTH trigeminal-nerve symptoms AND auditory-nerve abnormalities (highly abnormal evoked responses) starting around the same time, and both bilaterally. Doctors make vague mentions of "virus," but searching the Internet (at least) doesn't bring up much strong evidence of viruses affecting multiple cranial nerves at once. And it's not like I had any viral episodes (that I was aware of), not even a cold or flu.
