Question about few things (Probable MS & Limbo)

Hey, my story is:

When I was 8 yo I was diagnosed with OCD Obsessivee Compulsive Disorder, I had ticks that I had to wash hands to feel better etc, something you can see with Detective Monk tv series, although not as severe as his.

Few years later at age of 12 I was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis, my left hip join was affected and half year later my right eye, I had to take a shot of some med in my eyeballs not directly but the injection as from below of eyeball, otherwise doctors said I would lose my eyesight or it would ge really bad.

as years moved along all reduced I was taking Dipromal till my late teens for OCD, to lower its effects, even then I was having some urges to wash hands, start coughing all the time or nodding or shaking my head for some unknown reason I had to, I jsut had this urge and feeling inside.

Around 16yo I got noticable hand tremors, basicly when holding hands up in front of myself i would notice tremors, my family was first to notce because when I was passing tv remote controller or bowl with food they would see the object held in my hand shake quite noticable, then asked me to put down object and hold hand seeing as my hand shook as if i was having alcohol problems.

I have had always after exercise slight joint discomfort or pain

anyhow when I went college at age of 19 I had in July first weird set of symptoms, feeling weak, the temp was really high and humid, random pains aches, it continied every year in summer for a week or two and then it would go away.

Eventually in 2010 I had for a month weakness in limbs, lack of coordination as if ataxia, parasthesias, burning numbness.

I have had 1.5 Tesla MRI done and CT of my head only.

Everything came clear no changes nothing was wrong.

in 2011 I had some digestion problems, going often to toilet and having constant diarrheas for almost 3 months, I had all parasites and digestive system check ups, all came negative.

It eventually was gone, I noticed i was going to toilet more freequently to urinate, often waking up mid-nightwith urge to pee.

I developed during 2012 itching and asthma.

I would have itching and till today i have random itching all over its like itching attacks without any red areas or any cchanges to the skin, suddenly right leg, then head then back then front of my chest then both arms etc etc random itching all oveer body.

Worst came Novemeber 2013, I started having major problems walking, my sheens were hurting after some walking, my heels hurt like hell, al the time till now I epxeriece pain in my heels or achilles sinew.

I eexperience weakness after small exercise, random numbness, buzzing like feeling in soles of my feet, all of my limbs are affeected, burning sensations randomly, itching all the time randomly all over body, especially after taking shower.

Having sometimes dizziness and vertigo out of blue, random exhaustion after small walk or after vacuum cleaning.

After walk next day I am so tired and my legs hurt I cant walk.

When I feel cold wind blow against my skin sometimes I get this cold burning menthol feeeling all over that area of skin sometimes almsot big patches of my skin ove rmy body.

I have been to neurologist he ordered MRI of head and cervical spine only, everything clear, apart slight straightening of cervical spine area around C4-C5, but spine doesnt pressure nerve canal. no demyelination signs.

Doc said im nuts and i got anxiegy, he gave me lorazepam, my symptoms lessened or even some disappeared, like pain and numbness, my body felt stronger.

Then I went off Lorazepam and all came back.

He put me on Xanax, everything after week or so vanished to point I felt normal gain, no pain, no numbness, no weakness, only thing that I felt was wrong was itching and heels pain.

I was diagnosed with allergy to varieety of grasses, corn, some bread, califlower and one more I cant remember.

Now I realise how benzodiazepines work, they reduce nerve signal strength and firing, I even found on net people who swear xanax and other meds like that can stop pain for their spinal problems after injury, without having any Neuro disease.

I just wonder... why would my doctor say its 100% anxiety because Xanax helped me and because MRI was clear.

Maybe changes are in thoracic spine? Or lumbar one? Or maybe 1.5 Tesla MRI is too weak?

As you know or may not know, we are all just patients with MS helping each other.  I don't see any MS pattern or indications either.  Your time line is extensive and yes, thanks for breaking up the paragraphs!

Dont take offense at my suggestion, am an RN, but have you been to a psychologist or psychiatrist to rule out any problems.  It appears that there are drugs that give you relief that lead me in this direction.  Would not hurt to rule it out.

You can safely take some Vit D (over the counter type) clear it with your doctor, as always, as you would want to take repeat blood tests later to see if this improved your level.

I have MS and my MRI was done on a low level.

I hope that you find some answers, keep trying to rule out symptoms, but with the length of time involved in your "timeline" you've given us, I doubt seriously that MS is the cause.

Thank you!

I will surely look up to what you mentioned.

I also wanted to add, I got really low vitamine D that I had checked in blood work, not sure about the amount but I think I got 12, and healthy human should have 30 or 50?

Hi and welcome,

Firstly, thank you for splitting up your post, it does make it a lot easier for those of us with visual issues to read your story. Though most of what you've mentioned would 'not' be consistent with someone with MS, because the sx's caused by the lesions just can't produce random, spreading, moving from place to place, all over the body etc.

So from my perspective and understanding of MS, the pattern of your symptom behaviour is inconsistent to MS, and whilst MRI evidence of MS lesions is highly significant hard evidence, the lack of lesions on your MRI would not discount any clinical signs of lesion damage that your body still showed, and from what you've mentioned, you don't have any abnormal clinical findings.

Your also talking about a very long time frame (decades?) and not having MRI or clinical evidence suggestive of MS over a number of years, would not be typical in MS and to me that is a very big red flag and is indicating the cause of your issues is very unlikely to be a condition like MS. I would suggest you consider investigating the side effects of the medications you are taking or have been taking, medications that are central nervous system delivered can cause sx's similar to central nervous system diseases and it's a potential explanation.

The other idea to explore would be along the lines of allergy and or intolerance eg casein, lactose etc because some allergy's can mimic conditions like MS and since you have discovered some allergy, I think it might be worth trying an elimination diet (look up Sue Dengate) or seeing a dietician to see if it helps at all.

Cheers.........JJ

Please someone reply and help lost soul in limbo, what it could be! Does nothing on MRI exclude it? Does it all fit into MS?
