Question about fingertips stinging...really...

Hi there.. my finger have been feeling quite numb for a few days or more and that past week, I've noticed that when I put my hands under the tap...running water...to wash my hands the tip of my fingers sting...like a small bee sting...it doesn't last or isn't really sore...but I've never had that before...it happens daily and even when I touch other things...not everything.. and not all the time?

anyone had this type of thing and should I write this down in my timeline?

thanks

I get this all the time too.  I get the stinging pain every time I give someone a high 5 (which I try to avoid and yet everyone seems to want to give me one lately).
I definately have to use hot water to wash my hands as I work in a restaurant so I just suffer through it.  Sometimes it will keep stinging for hours.  It feels like when you plunge your hand in ice water for too long but without the cold.
I agree that keeping your neck stretched out and getting massage is the best relief.
I also have c spine lesions so you may want to have your Dr check this out.

Hope you get some answers and relief

I  have this all the time, from transverse myelitis.. Lesion in c spine. Cold water helps me. Hot is horrible and makes my hands hurt a lot and makes them "sticky" Hope y'all have only the fleeting thing. It can be caused also by thoracic outlet syndrome.

Keep your shoulders down and neck stretched out well and that helps. Getting a good massage on trapezius muscles as well as scalenes and SCM muscles helps to.

Yes,  I've had a similar problem, though for me it's my whole left hand.  It feels like the water is too hot (though it's not)--like a burning-tingling-stinging sensation.  It goes away shortly after I take my hands out of the water.  Sometimes it's just irritating, sometimes it's so painful I have to wash my hands in colder water.

I had this in my first "attack" of sx 7 years ago and the dr looked at me like I was crazy (MS specialist).  It mostly went away when those sx subsided and is now back with the new sx.  (I'm not dx.)

I would write it down....

I only had the numb, feel like they are asleep hands and fingers at the onset of my 1st attack.  Now, if I do get numb sensations on any part of my body, they are fleeing, and go from one spot to the next and like you say, not all the time, and don't last long- weird for certain.....
