You absolutely did the right thing going to an ophthmalogist! Actually many neurologists will ask you to make an appointment to have the optic nerve measured.... just had mine done a month ago!
Are you seeing an ophthmalogist or a neuro-ophthmalogist? I am seeing a regualr old ophthmalogist, but if they know you have MS, they know what they are looking for :)
Ask your ophthmalogist to send a full report to Jordan's neuro too! Even if your ophth is missing something, your neuro is a great backup!
Good luck with Jordan and hope his eyes start to heal and recover... I've talked to people who say their eyes continue to improve after a year, so keep the faith!!!

Thank you. This gave me some information that I did not all the way understand before. I did go back and check her credentials. She was recommended by my Eye dr. She is an ophthalmologist for pediatrics. This program is $64.00 for the computer. She did state she does not see any optical changes. My eye dr. states he can't do this kind of testing and referred us to her. She wants to see him again in 2 months so his vision was different. I will look for a neuro-ophthalmologist. Thank you for the info. Much appreciated!
Michelleric-Thanks for taking the time to write back. I hope all is ok with your son. Many (hugs) coming your way!
essdipity-I hadn't heard of it either. We have never been told that would happen, especially almost a year later. Thanks for all your help! Have a super day!
Glad to read that Michelle agrees with me!

Absolutely you're doing the right thing!
I've never heard of Neurontin causing blurry vision, though that could be different for aa child.
I urge you to take Jordan to a neuro-ophthalmologist, especially if he is having double vision. Very often regular ophths don't know much about optic nerve problems (mine readily says he doesnt, and he's with Hopkins' Wilmer Eye Clinic). Anyway, this could well be optic neuritis, which is a huge sign of MS. A neuro-ophth could make the diagnosis.
Your neuro should agree to a consult, but in any case don't worry about his/her feelings. There are other doctors out there.

Hi,
I just wrote a long reply and lost it. I am in a hospital room w my son, and I think the wifi is not great.
Hope this works.
R u sure u saw a pediatric ophthalmologist, and not a pediatric optometrist?
I am an Orthoptist and work w pedi. Ophthalmologists. none of my docs would ever recommended that for your son. It is very expensive, insurance doesn't cover, and it sounds as if ur sons eye issues r neurological in nature, and that program would not benefit him. This is only my opinion.
I highly recommend u see a Neuro opthalmologist, and/or make sure u r seeing a pedi opthalmologist, and not a Pedi optometrist.
Wishing u well,
Michelle
