Rebif injection site?

I have been giving my Husbands his injections for over two years, I'm a Nurse and today a lump appeared right after the injection site with screaming pain. This has never happened. He just gets a little stinging and that's it. What did I do wrong? I pinched the skin, swabbed just down, massaged for two mins. and the lump, it has gone down, why?

Hi there,

Thanks for joining us. Was it a bump right on the surface like SarahL mentions? If so, I suspect it will disappear. But, I'm curious where this particular site occurred. Was it in the arm, leg, or stomach?

I've had a bump under the skin, but it was due to hitting the wrong location on my arm. While I had the skin pulled up, my husband injected it, and indeed while letting the skin down it was further under my arm than initially thought - very tender underneath. Got a bit bruised as well.

This can also happen if the medicine did not go into completely into the sub-q (just prior to it maybe). And, it can also happen if the med didn't disperse as quickly as it was injection. So, it stayed raise. Though as a nurse, you've likely thought of this too. Hope this reassures you a bit.

Depending on whether or not the bevel was up or down on the needle, it may have scratched coming  out, of it went away, should be Ok
