Hi, (again) Shell.
Actually, I did inject my Rebif on Friday last week, as well. And my diarrhea has been terrible.
So, I decided to skip it for a few weeks and see if things improve.
Sheila
Hmmm.....so, maybe the 4 weeks off of Rebif was not the reason my diarrhea began to improve.
Copaxone was my 1st DMD, and it elevated my liver enzymes.
My MS Specialist re-tested every two weeks, until they returned to normal, before she started me on Rebif.
I recall my neuro saying it took just a few days. Rebif if was my first DMD and it elevated my liver enzymes. I started and stopped it twice, and both times I stopped my shots, my liver enzymes returned to normal within a few days. I ceased treatment and immediately started Copaxone, no waiting period for the purpose of starting a different DMD.
Hi, Shell.
I am still going to try the Rebif this week, just in case I'm wrong.
But, if I am right, then, I will not use another DMD.
(((HUGS)))
Sheila
Oh definitely would have been out of system after the 4 weeks. And, if I'm correct in my thoughts reading this, even now, Monday, if you've not injected since Wednesday - would be out, considering three days a week injection, and then the one time 48 hour.
I'm very sorry to hear the interferon contributing :( I always pray for a solution to present itself for this chronic problem.

Hi, Shell.
Thank you. I think, after not injecting Rebif for 4 weeks, it would have cleared my system.
I was diagnosed with Lymphocytic colitis December, and we're trying to find out, if any of my medications are contributing to my diarrhea, because I've been on medications for the LC with no improvement. Even with a low fat/low fiber, no casein diet.
I re-started the Rebif, last week Monday, and after my 2nd injection on Wednesday, the diarrhea worsened.
I received my 1st months supply of the new Rebidose injector on Friday, and I am going to try it.
Vit. D and Vit B12 are both low again.

Here is the prescribing info:
http://www.emdserono.com/cmg.emdserono_us/en/images/rebif_tcm115_19765.pdf
Where it says: (COMPLETE GREEK TO ME!!!!!!)
Pharmacokinetics The pharmacokinetics of Rebif® (interferon beta-1a) in people with multiple sclerosis have not been evaluated. In healthy volunteer subjects, a single subcutaneous (sc) injection of 60 mcg of Rebif® (liquid formulation) resulted in a peak serum concentration (Cmax) of 5.1 ± 1.7 IU/mL (mean ± SD), with a median time of peak serum concentration (Tmax) of 16 hours. The serum elimination half-life (t1/2) was 69 ± 37 hours, and the
area under the serum concentration versus time curve (AUC) from zero to 96 hours was 294 ± 81 IU h/mL. Following every other day sc injections in healthy volunteer subjects, an increase in AUC of approximately
240% was observed, suggesting that accumulation of interferon beta-1a occurs after repeat administration
WHO WANTS TO PUT THIS INTO LAYMANS TERMS FOR SHEILA?

Hi Sheila!
That info is on the prescribing pamphlet. I'll look on the net for it and see if I can decipher it. It's not that long from what I remember, considering the dosing schedule...... stand by to stand by!
