Report from Neurologist

Well, I saw the neurologist last Friday and he was generally pleased with my progress. He thinks I am recovering quite well. I still have some nystagmus in my right eye (I knew something was still wrong!) and still have to use a cane for the ataxia. So, for now I can't drive or work since I work at a computer and it would be too much strain. So, I am off work for another month. I will have another MRI at that time. I have to wait for the SoluMedrol to exit my system. I guess it takes 4 to 6 weeks. Then a follow up and go from there. He recommends Tysabri if sI want to switch right now. However, depending on what he sees on the MRI it may not be a choice but the only recourse. So, any input on Tysabri would be appreciated. I have mostly good days, but too much activity on Sunday made me a slug yesterday! I woke up refreshed this morning and took a short walk. Felt SO good! I could have PT for the ataxia, but he and I both agreed I am doing pretty well as it is. One day at a time!

GrannyJo, Rita (cosmobirdy) is on tysabri - you might drop her a pm and talk to her about it.

There are risks involved with it, but heck there are risks with everything in life.  Look at it seriously as an option is your neuro feels it gives you some possibilities.

be well, L

Hi GrannyJo6,

I am glad to hear that things are geting better...I to feel it the next day when i have a big day.

Funny you say that you went for a walk..I feel at times thats what i have to do even if i am not feeling to good. Walking helps, makes my aches feel better and i guess my mind as well.

Hang in there.

Steve

It sounds you and your neuro have a solid plan in place. It's great to hear somebody say they "felt so good". It's an incentive for thiose of us still in PT and in a relapse to keep going.

As for Tysabri , I know GuitarGrrrl is on this treatment and doing well. I also believe there are others on the forum taking this too but my memory fails me.

Good luck and here's to you feeling good on a lot more days!
