Supermum, thanks for the welcome. :). I am at least glad someone can relate. What do you do to treat it? Muscle relaxers? Mine just under the right breast and wraps around the right rub cage and into my back just under the shoulder blade. Did they ever figure out the cause of yours?
Be well.
Welcome to my world :-) I've had intercostal muscles spasms (they are little muscles between each rib) on my left side, going on and off since 08. Now they still spasm but i'm more bothered by it when they get stuck in the contracted phase which may or may not be spastic. I then feel like i've been thumped with a baseball bat, it doesnt let up until it does.
My rib cage from front running under my armpit to my spine, HURTS more often than not, most of the time its there but not so bad, other times (like this week) i'm so exhausted by the constant pain i'm ready to rip them out with my bare teeth! lol
I do get spasms in my right side too, back right gets stuck sometimes but its mainly little spasms that dont hurt, fluttering on and off like some of my other muscles do, annoying but not painful. The ones at the front running along my sternum spasm but they affect the sternum and i start snapping, cracking and yes poping, and that does hurt.
Long before i'd heard of the hug, i tried to find out what could cause this, i only ever located the problem with body builders and weight lifters, which i am clearly not one of (5.2ft and weedy lol), not too impressed with my GP's "it happens", for me that would mean i have 3 or 4 strangly spontanious muscle issues that just "happened", me think not!
There could be other causes, but I think you need to have a cause that would incorporate all the other issues youve got, if not it wouldnt make sense.
Cheers.....JJ
No no X-rays. No rash either. My doc had thought of shingles too. He says he doesn't know right now. I'm just glad they don't think it's my gallbladder. I do not want surgery. The MS hug was the only other thing I could think of. I guess there are alot of other things too.
Did they by chance do an xray of the gallbladder. When I had my gallbladder attack the CT, ultrasound, and HIDA were all negative. The xray showed something. The surgeon decided I needed to have the thing out and sure enough a stone was blocking the bile duct like a cork.

Hi there, I have had pain in the area and was in the hosptial for four days, doing tests etc to check it out because I had the pain for a week. The could not find anything wrong and it subsided?
I'm not sure why or what it was? It has not happened in a few months now, so I'm hoping it doesn't happen again.
let us know what happens with you and let your Neuro, Dr, know whats happening.
take care
