Safe to get flu shot when starting Copaxone?

Hello

I'm 23 and I'm starting Copaxone in about 2 weeks. I wanted to get the flu shot too. Is it safe to get the flu shot like tomorrow and then start Copaxone in about 2 weeks?

Hi, Danielle, Not only is it safe to get the flu shot, it is recommended.

Here is a thread on the flu shot for this year and any timing that is necessary with any MS med.  Not timing is needed for Copaxone.

Yes. It is safe! I have been on Copaxone for over a year now. I got the flu shot last year and had no problems at all and best of all I didn't get the flu! Good luck to you!

Yes, it is safe.  The flu shot and Copaxone aren't contraindicated.  Just avoid injecting Copaxone at the flu shot injection site until that site has completely healed and does not feeling warm or lumpy.
