Scary while on prednisone.....

Hi there.  I have been on Prednisone since last Friday and have had some ups and downs.  This past Thursday I was outside in the heat (80's) and my left arm and hand went numb, tongue and left leg became very stiff, and my eyesight in my left became blurry.  I know I am heat sensitive, which again makes me doubt these symptoms could be coming from Celiac.

Then yesterday morning was a real scare....I woke up a bit stiff and took a quick bath (tried to make it warm instead of hot) and sure enough when trying to get out I couldn't.  I literally had to use my arms to pull myself out which completely exhausted me.  I almost called someone to come and get me.  I couldn't stand up or walk.  And I was visibly shaking.  About an hour after cooling down I could get up and slowly move, but I very serioulsy needed a walking device.    Now again this morning, out of the shower, left arm numb and weak, vision blurry, and left leg stiff and having hard time walking.

I guess I'm sitting here thinking, why is this happening even when I'm on the Prednisone?  Anyone have issues with symptoms or symptoms have gotten worse while on the prednisone.  I'm having real trouble with my left knee too.

Would love feedback!!  Blessing to all!
Stacie

I'm glad you are finished with yours.  How long have you been done?  Are you feeling any different now?  I have to keep taking them until this Friday.  My left hand and arm has been numb since Thursday with the heat and my left leg has been stiff and I've been walking with a limp since Friday with the bath.  This morning in church, I felt myself getting hot and my left arm was very weak, had tremors and the numbness was more intense.  Left leg got real stiff and weak as well.  I am calling my MS Specialist tomorrow just to let them know so he has it in his notes.  Let me know how you are doing.  HOpe you are well!!

HUGS

Hi Stacie

I've just been taking Prednisone.  500 mg a day for 4 days.  I feel horrible.  I've never been more tired and feel numbness in my arms and random tingles.  I'm assuming it's due to the Prednisone and it will let up now that I've stopped taking it.  I was reading that some people do have side effects when taking steroids and I'm hoping that I'm just one of those people.  I hope you feel better soon!

Thank you for responding!  I am trying to keep track of all that is happening that way when I do talk with my neuro on Monday I can let him know what's going on.  I thought very seriously about going to the ER, but honestly in my heart felt as if they would charge me an arm and a leg and literally do nothing about my arm and my leg...hahaha.

BUT, I will say if this keeps it up,  I will go.  I am actually not feeling too rough right now.  We have had storms and the weather has cooled down quite a bit.  Although still a bit stiff and numb, I feel like I can rest a bit now.

Thank you again for caring!  Love you guys!

Stacie,

I think a call is definitely in order. I'd talk to the on call doctor if needed.

I felt improvement but I was also on a very high dose 1000mg over 5 days.

I am surprised you are worse but it could be a flare on top of the prednisone but it's odd how it's hitting you.

I think they need to see you.

Hugs girlie, please keep us informed.

I'm sorry you're going through all this.  A call to your neuro and gastro MDs are in order.

I've only been on high dose steroids (1500 mg Solumedrol) a couple of times for 5 days each incidence.  I got improvement each time. I've only had lower dose Prednisone once for an unrelated incident.

If this gets any worse, I'd go to the ER.
Thinking of you...

Hi, I don't think steroids completely remove problems.  I've been on them several times, but I'm still not absolutely sure of what their purpose is.  All I can say for sure is that I still had symptoms.

I hope you start feeling better
