Let me introduce my new & wonderful neurologist

I am very happy to share that I have a new neurologist.  He is an MS neuro whom my first neuro referred me to for a second opinion.  He is an professor of neurology at a highly respected university medical hospital and seems genuinely interested in helping me.  I went to see him today wondering to myself why I kept the appointment.  I don't regret it now.  I now have confidence that this doctor will do what needs to be done while we work through this diagnosis.

I just wanted to share that with you all in hope that each of us will keep looking for help if we aren't getting it from our current doctors.

Thanks you guys.  I didn't really expect anyone to respond since it was more of an update than anything, but I am relived, very relieved to be able to end my search for now.

I am on the schedule to start my IV Solu-Medrol tomorrow night.  I've never done self administration before as they did it for me when I was in the hospital, but I guess that is what I'll be doing.  They are delivering the medication sometime before 10 pm tonight and the nurse will come tomorrow evening to put in the IV line and show me how to do it.  I sure hope it makes me feel better soon.  I've had about as much of this nonsense as I can take.

Thanks again you guys for your support.  You are the best!!!

So happy to hear that your new neuro is a good one!  I'll have to read your journal entry tomorrow, I'm getting very sleepy.

Okay, now I see your journal entry.  I know what you mean about him talking to you as if you were already diagnosed.  My current neuro did that also and I was confused by it.  But, what it meant was that he was essentially sure in his mind, but wanted a few more puzzle pieces before he uttered the words.  His rueful statement that he was sorry that no one had told you about hot tubs says that he is viewing you as he would one of his MS patients.

I suspect you won't have long to wait before he says something definite.  He wants to evaluate your response to the steroids.

And he is clearly feeling like I do, that gray matter lesions may be the key in people who clinically have MS, but the conventional MRI just isn't showing it.

Again, what did your LP show?

That is, indeed, fabulous news.  All this "doctor-shopping" is about finding the doctor that will take us through the journey.  An I think you "know" when you find the right one.  I am sooo pleased for you, but you have another think coming if you think that that paltrey description of the visit is all we need to hear.

I want a blow-by-blow.  What did you say?  Then what did he say?  The Limbolanders need to know waht a great visit sounds like.

Give!

I read your journal entry too, and feel very hopeful for you! There's nothing like a bit of validation to put a spring in your step, even if it's only a hypothetical one. Keep us posted, please.
