FYI Back from the neuro

Hi guys and thanks for your well wishes.  I drive to ashland as it is on a 4 lane straight through.  The concentration thing can be a bummer so I take breaks.  I just stop to get something drink etc.  It seems to help.

Well all my lab wrk was ok with the exception of the vit D.  It was a little low.

I have a tarlov cyst abutted on SI nerve.  She doesn't think it is big enough to be the culprit concerning my leg weakness but possibly my lower back pain.  

She is going to run an EMG within the next two weeks.  She said if it showed a problem with the nerve she may send me to a neurosurgeon.  I told her I would not let them drain it.  If the pain becomes more than I can handle then we will talk.

My neuropsych eval has been canceled they are waiting for a new appt..  

She said she could order a few more tests but if nothing showed up she couldn't do anything else for me.  She was not being rude just truthful.  I am glad she knows her limitations but I don't know where that leaves me.

To tell you the truth, after some research I have found her specialty to be the nervous system as in the functioning of the nerves.  I guess I should have found that out first...lol.  Must have been one of those bad cog days ;0)

I have a two month f/u.  If I get the neuropsych before then or if the EMG shows something it will be rescheduled to a more current date.

So long story short as far as the brain and the leisons....she don't know squat....but she is truthful and she seems to care.  I found her easy to talk to with this time.  Last time maybe the prob was me and my defenses.  You only have to hit me over the head so many times before I start to duck when I see a frying pan!!!  I think that day I was ducking.

The next question seems to be where do I go from here.  My counselor really wants me to see this particular doctor.  His specialty is RA but Dr H says if he rules RA out then he won't quit until he finds out what it is.  That is prob the route I will go.  I don't have any other plans for getting a dx.

Tomorrow I go for out patient surgery...it is just an endoscopy to see if the villi in my intestines are beginning to grow back since I have been gluten free for almost a yr.  The only thing is you have anesthesia. That means for the next two or three days I will be on my butt.  I am really sensitive to it.
When I had my last c-section my anesthesiologist said I was a cheap high ;0)

Take care guys.  I am working to get my life to slow down.  This past yr has kicked my rear.  Then I can spend more time with my forum family.  At least that is my goal.

I just got bk on the computer so sorry I'm late but I'm glad you made it home safe!

I just noticed you're in Kentucky, like me- a long way from me but still. I live in Hopkinsville. Have you been out this way?

Anyways, I'm glad you at least found a good dr who is willing to put some real effort into finding an answer for you. You deserve that. All of us do.

I am glad your appointment went well, although you have no answers at least they are trying to help you, I agree with the others go to the rheumy it's another thing you can strike off your list.

I'd go to the rheum, see what they say. At the very least, it can be a ruleout.

Hi Terry. I guess the appt. was a big two cheers. I do urge you to see the rheumy if the neuro doesn't have more to offer. You need someone who won't quit.

I know it's maddening, but hang in there. Sending good wishes for some peaceful times and a chance to regroup. Take care of you!

Hi terry, I'm glad you made it too your appt alright and that the Dr was able to talk with you.  I'm not glad you didn't find answers, but you do have follow ups.. which means they aren't brushing you off.

Hope your surgery goes well and the aneste.. isn't too bad for you.
