Snowed in...had to miss my neuro appt...darn!

I live in the Black Hills of SD, and I was scheduled to see my neuro this morning, at 8a (and it is an hours' drive to get there)...but when I looked out the window at 5a, we had two feet of snow!  I was stuck (besides that, 30 miles of highway is closed, too).  The nurse worked hard to get me that appt...normally, it is a 2-3 month wait...now I don't know how far out the make-up appt will be.  Oh, well...everything happens for a reason, I believe.  We shall see.  Have a good Friday, all!   Jan.

Aspentoo...we don't have any wood even chopped...I know, stupid!   We have never had a very long outage here, so we didn't prepare very well.  But, my hubby, is acting like MacGyver...he found a small propane catalytic burner, which is warming one room, at least...and, he found some sterno, so we can warm up some food!  He is so resourceful!  We even stuck some of our refrigerator foods, out in the snow!  It is finally warming up a bit outside, so I am not as freezing inside, now.  Hallelujah for heat! (just not TOO much of it...lol).  Now, if someone can come and please plow us out!  Thanks for your support, all.  Gotta shut down my phone now.  Will call the neuro's ofc on Monday.  Jan.

Ohhhh, brrrrr ... we use wood (mostly) as well .. in fact I just came in from stacking firewood!  I also have issues when it's cold, and although I used to LOVE fall/winter I'm dreading it a little this year.  Glad for the woodstove because it's cozy, bone-warming heat :-).

Hang tight!  Do you have someone who could help you get some wood in?

Thanks for the kind thoughts, all.  Just an update...we have been without power, for 24 hours now.  Normally, that is not a big deal, but I was very, very stupid, and didn't stock up on firewood/logs!   So, I am layered up as much as possible!  Our two dogs are getting cabin fever...it is even too deep for them outside (snow drifts up to 4-5 feet)...and they love snow!  One thing I have realized...and that is that I can't 'think' when I am too cold...I guess just like when I am too hot!  Oh, well.  I will never take 'heat' for granted again...lol!   Jan.

I saw that on the news and couldn't believe the dumping your area got.  So sorry you had to miss the appt. and hope they get you rescheduled quickly.  I'm hoping you send that weather front north to Canada and not east to Ohio!

Oohhh, how frustrating :-(.  I saw photos of your area on Facebook yesterday ... WOW (and I'm Canadian -- that's some impressive snow!).

Hopefully they can fit you in again soon.
