Is Llerhmettes only associated with MS?

I have Llerhmettes and some other neurological stuff like ON and parasthesia, bowel bladder stuff etc but MS studies are all negative.  So, can Llerhmettes be benign?  Or is this likely really early MS and it's just too soon to tell?

Thanks

Hi,

I too have been having LHermitte.  The only negative thing on my MRI is a "very mild foraminal stenosis".  The doc seems to think that it might what is causing the lhermitte but can't say for sure...  Have you had any other news regarding your condition?

Thanks

John

Thanks for your comment.  I just feel so discouraged.  I've had all the tests and am relieved their negative but at the same time so frustrated.  It's not all in my head!  I cant just pretend things aren't happening to me..... I'm grasping for reasons why I could have these symptoms and it not be MS.  Maybe its God just protecting me from the diagnosis till I finish school with my RN.... who knows...!  When I see my Dr for my regular physical, i'm gonna ask him to do the B12 test and Lupus etc to rule it out.  I had a neck injury 4 yrs ago and do have a bulging disk but its not damaging anything according to the MRI. That was the only thing abnormal on the report. I cant even tell it's bulging thank GOD!

Thanks

My understanding is that Lhermitte's is considered a "classic" sign of MS, but less commonly can be caused by other problems, ie: vitamin B12 deficiency, or problems with the spinal cord, ie: disc herniation.

My first sign of MS in 2006 was Lhermitte's.  When I first spoke to my PCP about it, his immediate response was "I don't want to scare you but that is a classic sign of MS."  It was over a year before anything showed up on MRI and LP.

I would think that blood work and a spinal MRI might rule in or out any other possible underlying causes.
