Thank you! So maybe you can help me further.
My GP gave me xanax to add to baclofen several months ago for extreme tightness in my hips (mainly right hip) right after my MS dx. He made it sound like it was MS related but isn't Valium more for spasticity??
I only say spasticity because I think that is what based on your Health Page. I usually don't have pain in the morning when I feel best overall. I find that sometimes when I move fast there is a muscle in the right hip just above the groin that tightens really hard and hurts when I contiue the leg movement. But not every time.
Then throughout the day as I walk more and more the pain and tightness in just a couple specific leg muscles on the right and one on the left (could be a joint on left but don't think so on right) act up and fatigue sets in.
Now my neuro is sending me to the orthopedic to check for bursitis???
I did fall in the ice about 10 months ago shortly after I was dx'd Oh Wait (revelation) and once last xmas 2 months before dx but no residual pain there. And I never mentioned it to my neuro cuz surprise, surprise, I forgot.
I know my stress level is WWWAAYYYY too high for no good reason and luckily I have a "routine" check up on Friday (though i just got a cold so not sure I will get to do the check up) So now I am wondering if this pain is really spasticity? Will an orthopedic even be able to tell me anything??
Do i request an MRI of the hips?
Thanks so much
D
No, stress cannot cause spasticity of any kind. However, stress does cause tightening of muscles and , if spasticity is already present from neurological damage, then stress can temporarily make spasticity worse.
As much as stress can cause us to tighten up unnnaturally and affect our posture, it can cause hip pain due to tightening of lower back muscles.
