Another "could this be MS" post

I am an active 33 year old male (in otherwise good health) with some odd symptoms.  These have been happening off and on for the past 6 months... increasing in frequency:

mild fatigue
sleep disturbance
mild ED problems
mild coordination problems, like more typos
mild tingling in hands and feet, like pins & needles
trembling, especially noticeable while weight lifting ** this gives me the most concern

Could this be signs of early MS?  I am hoping it's just a vitamin deficiency, anxiety or something more benign.

Thanks,
Dan

Hey Dan,

Welcome to our group!!!

You've gotten good info here.  Since we're not docs, it really is hard to say one way or the other.  BUT, we sure can help you out w/our experiences, tests, and good old fashion support and shoulders to lean on?

So, what's up w/the Dr appt?  Are you going to an MD or Internist, or a Neuro?  What brought you here, you looking up symptoms and found us?

Give us some more info, and we'll put our minds to it.
be well,
SL
p.s. don't lift too many heavy weights until you know what you are dealing with.  Best to listen to your body, regardless as to what this may, or may not be - k???

With MS, there just does not seem to be anything typical about it.  I guess that's what makes it so hard to diagnose.  It so often gets confused with other conditions.

I have had numbness and tingling in one hand or the other, and both at the same time, and one foot or the other, and both feet at the same time, and hands and feet at the same time.  Any and all variations.  I'm not sure why this is.  I guess depending on which nerves are involved and where there may be particular areas of inflammation and/or nerve damage.

Sorry, I know this is probably not all that helpful to you.  I hope you don't have to wait too long to see a specialist.  If things worsen, let them know, as they may be able to see you more quickly if your problems become more severe.  Also it's a good idea to call from time to time and see if they can squeeze you in sooner, if you are quite concerned.  They often can do so, due to cancellations.

On the chance that it is something like a B12 deficiency, in the meantime you could try getting a shot or two.  It won't harm you to give this a try.  This is what my GP did when I first described my symptoms.  He felt it was MS from day one, but gave me a couple of B12 shots anyway to see if this would alleviate the tingling (Lhermitte's Sign).  In my case, it did not and I was dx'ed with MS a little over a year later.

Good luck to you.  What you describe could be caused by any number of things, and may very well be easily resolved.  I hope you keep in touch with the forum and let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the reply, I have a dr appt, but it takes awhile to get in.

Maybe you (or someone else) can answer this.  Numbness from MS... does it usually affect both hands and feet at once, or typically one area at a time?  I feel it in both hands and feet.

Dan,
Of course , all these symptoms can be related to anxiety or something very benign.  BUT, until you take yourself to a good doctor and relate these symptoms, get a work-up and some tests, there is no way of knowing.  The worst thing you can do is wait.  No matter what is wrong, it has to be addressed.  And, it could be as simple as needing a vitamin.
Keep a journal of symptoms and when they started, when they are worse or better etc.  Waiting and worrying is no way to live.  Get going to the doc!  Good luck.
